Anyone else think Mau is a complete fucking narcisist and therapy with him is completely pointless? Some. Of the things he is saying. Textbook narcisim. The therapist doesn't seem to see it?!?

Just put this on. It confused me utterly for a few mins as I couldn't tell if it's real or acted! This guy is a dick.

Mau was a nightmare. Especially hilarious when he said what a great therapist he would be

This isn't real though. I watched it a couple of months ago and wasn't sure, but it quickly became obvious it was all staged.

What do you mean? It is real. They were real couples.

It wasn't staged at all. She's a therapist and they were clients. Obviously editing was involved as they were there for several sessions, but it wasn't scripted.

@Appletree21, excellent post. Been there, bought the T shirt.

They cross lines both large and small all the time. They choose kind, capable, loyal and conscientious people - polar opposites of themselves - whose life force they feed on.

I think the therapist really couldn't handle Mau - well, who could? There was a scene where he was roaming around her office, touching her things, and she was so uncomfortable. She was trying to talk to Annie but couldn't concentrate. It was just like having an animal circling you - all you can do is watch them. I think he's actually a really dangerous man.

I agree. I’m curious as to her thoughts on him. From what I know you shouldn’t do couples therapy in those circumstances.

I much preferred season 2.

It’s fascinating and I hope it encourages more couples to go to couples therapy as there is still a real stereotype that it involved taking sides and lying on the couch.

I am 6 minutes in and I cannot stand that man! I am actually repulsed and quite angry! Won't stop me watching the rest though, I must admit.

@mathanxiety thank you for your kind words. It's something I try repeating to myself to stay sane, but it's nice to hear it from outside again too. ((:

Just finished season 2. I'm not feeling 100% today so I think I'm a bit over emotional but I sobbed at the end!

So happy to hear there will be a season 3!

Why so much anger and swearing by posters? I watched the show but this doesn’t seem a sane thread to comment. Off for a shower ick!

Me and dh have been watching this and we find ourselves holding each other by the end of the show. It's so sad but you can see how much love there is between most of the couples, it's just their histories and childhoods tripping them up. I've only got a few left to watch of S2, I think the last one I watched was Tashi beginning to explore her aggressive dad and how difficult it was for her partner to validate her, and then the therapist talking to her therapist after about how her partners inbuilt sexism/patriarchy makes it hard for him to see Tashi's dad as abusive. It's so good to watch and makes you realise how some people are quite scared of therapy because they don't want to see the truth.
