DP is devoid of empathy

Any time something happens that is upsetting, DP stands around like a lemon looking awkward. No offer of support or even a hug. If I ask for support she says, 'Don't take it out on me!'.

Is this normal? Are some people just like this? It makes shit situations even worse tbh.

Has she always been like this? Is she a more pragmatic type who seeks to solve problems rather than empathise?

Yes and yes. Pragmatic is good but sometimes all I need is a hug! And as we get more serious (we've been together for over 2 years now), the problems get more serious. I'm worried about how she will be when we ttc as I have PCOS and have had miscarriages in the past. I want someone who can be empathetic. Maybe she just isn't Sad

Aw, yes, I understand this! Have you explained this to her? That you are not taking it out on her but someone being supportive makes it all better as you feel less alone. Is there someone else in your life who can give you the sort of emotional support you crave?

My ex was like this. Very pragmatic and never knew how to comfort me during tough times. He was always like that tho so I knew he would never change. Regardless, It made me feel like he didn't care.
