After 10 years of being in an emotionally abusive relationship I've been putting steps into place to leave, I have a tiny part time job at the moment but I have an interview for a full time job on Saturday, today after another bust up about him berating our 7 year old, I've applied to move out. I hope I get it. I don't know why I'm posting to be honest I guess I just need to have it out there so I don't change my mind or be convinced to stay again. I don't plan on mentioning it unless I'm accepted for it...

Well done for taking such brave steps! When will you hear about the accommodation? I hope you get it AND the job!

Thank you! I'm not gonna lie I'm pretty scared. I grew up so poor (not having food / heating etc) so it terrifies me that I could put my daughter through the same thing.

I have no idea on the house,it's available in Feb so it could be a while before I hear anything.

Well done, just keep going and imagine a life without him.

I have everything crossed for you for your job and house.
Remember there’s more help around these days than when you were young so make sure you get all the benefits you’re entitled to.
You’ve got this, you can do it.

TooWicked · 03/01/2022 17:09

The first step is the hardest! I’m cheering you on and I know everyone else will be too. Dig deep, you absolutely can do this xxx

I told him last night I'm viewing the house today, I've gone out to an interview this morning but the job wasn't the hours advertised so I haven't got it unfortunately. I'm hoping something crops up asap. Does anyone know if you can claim u.c whilst you're separated but living together? Am I right in thinking you can but you can share meals or go out together etc etc? I'm not sure how they could even check that Confused. I won't get any house without universal credit though...

I don't know but you should contact the citizens advice bureau and ask all these questions OP. Good luck
