Back in the spring I went on a few dates with someone I met on Hinge. We had lots in common and got on really well. We had a whirlwind of dates over a four week period meeting nearly other day in some way, we slept together very early on which is unlike me and previous relationships. She has 4 kids I have none. After dating she text me to say I was great but we were at different stages of our lives and it would be unhealthy balance in a relationship. And she said that I was the loveliest man she knows.

Over Christmas she text me out the blue asking to go on a walk with her along the coast starting the text hello lovely friend. We just chatted and it was lovely, felt like friends catching up and we did not talk about relationships.

She has had a rocky few months in her life with the kids and the ex.

She has asked me for cocktails next week with the express mission of getting slightly drunk, just the two of us!

Now I am confused of her intentions, do you think she wants to be more than friends? Given she started the text inviting me on the walk as hello lovely friend? When we finished the walk she gave me a big hug and a kiss on the cheek. Do you think she wants to go drinking as friends? Just seems a bit strange as she has plenty of female friends she could go with.

Maybe she wants to be friends with benefits?

Just ask her? Say when we last met you said we were at different stages etc. So what is this?

We don’t know. Ask her.

It sounds like just friends to me. She called you lovely friend and gave you a kiss on the cheek - definitely friends zone usually. I wouldn't assume more unless and until she made it clear she wanted more. I used to go out drinking with male friends, sometimes going to a club, just as friends, nothing ever happened.

You could just check with her though as a pp has said - if just friends she will be happy to confirm just friends!

I'd guess at a friend's with benefits situation. But I feel it won't last long

Agree more than likely to be friends only, but she does have many female friends she could go drinking with and she has asked me to go with her on her first day off since mid December.

Sounds to me like she needs/wants some love, but not the commitment. Friends with benefits.

But if you really like her, you need to ask her outright and stay away if it's going to end up hurtful for you.

Her ex is always going to be there, as are the kids, so what does she want?

Magnited · 01/01/2022 13:11

She wants some cock. You might not be the only one. Wear a condom.

Snugglebum20 · 01/01/2022 13:32

Sounds like she dumped you for someone else. That didn't work out. She's come back to you

Sonaftersonafterson · 01/01/2022 13:59

Whatever her reason, she is contacting you to reignite whatever you guys had when dating. Wanting to go out drinking, just the two of you, is a very very obvious clue.

Shes tested the waters to see if you're receptive...hence the walk, referring to you as a friend.

I'd bet my house her plan is... you two go out, get pissed and fuck. Thats what she wants.

Not necessarily a bad thing if thats what you want too.

shivermetimbers77 · 01/01/2022 14:02

Sounds to me like she really likes you, but just as a friend. If you are happy to just be friends, carry on, but if you want more you should probably pull back as otherwise you may get hurt.
