Breakup and antidepressants

My partner left 3 months ago and I'm still struggling to move forward. I'm better than I was but still have this overwhelming sadness hanging over me. I'm already on antidepressants after an episode 3 years ago (menopause related I think). Does anyone have any experience of antidepressants for heartbreak? Would an increase in my dose be helpful. I just can't stand the despair I feel. Especially in the morning. Thanks x

My doctor has prescribed Diazapam for when things get too much. It's been a god send over Christmas!

I was given diazepam before but my doctor doesn't like prescribing it too often. It is a winder drug ☺️

It is bloody marvellous. I'd give them a call and see if they'd do another prescription. Solidarity. This is such a rubbish time of year to be going through a break up x

It certainly is. I even read that painkillers dull the pain. I tried that this morning. I've been here before 20 odd years ago so I know we'll both be fine. It's just the period of hurt we have to go through. Big hug to you ☺️ x

I've been taking the Diazapam with paracetamol as they give me a headache so maybe that's helping too. I'm just bored with being sad now. Good to hear you've been through it previously and survived though. I can't really imagine ever being fully OK ever again 😢

I promise you will. I never thought I'd be happy again the first time. I was just numb. But guess what? Slowly I started rebuilding my life and stopped feeling sad and angry and eventually I was happy again ☺️ x
