Divorcing at Christmas

currently going through a horrible divorce, my stbx is emotionally and verbally abusive as refuses to move out, he is do angry all of the time. My mum is staying or she would be on her own and he has already shouted at me twice... Trying to make it nice for the kids but it's so hard... I am anxious that tomorrow will be horrible for the kids 😥

Thank you .hope you are ok., I could honestly cry for the kids , he doesn’t seem embarrassed at all to shout in front of my mum ..he just drinks while I do everything for Christmas. All I keep thinking is next year will be better and will be a peaceful Christmas, he is trying his best to make it awful

I’m in a similar situation although have had a brief reprieve whist stbxh goes to in-laws.

I have recently taken to just walking out the room without saying anything if he starts shouting. It seems to be quite effective although you would have to be sure it wouldn’t cause him to escalate. At least you have your mum present too.

Next year will be better

Get up and walk out when he shouts. This sounds miserable and I wish it wasn't so for you. Pleas try to focus on this time next year when things will be so much better for you. Sending strength to you.

He will just follow me. I just want today to end which is hard, so anxious... Just hoping next year will be better
