Is my friend ghosting me?

I have messaged my friend to try to meet up or just to ask how she is a few times over the past three months and she just hasn't responded. I know she's seen it as well. We have been friends for over 10 years (or at least I thought we were!). I literally don't know what I've done wrong, or maybe she just can't be bothered anymore. Anyone else had something similar happen?

Are you sure she still has the same number? It still doesn’t excuse her as you would expect her to tell you her new number. Can you contact her via another method, social media?, email? Is she local to you? Can you pop round? It does sound like she’s ghosting you. I would prefer to have closure if a relationship is to end but we don’t always have that luxury. I would make one more attempt via another avenue and if no response, you have your answer. It’s painful, it happened to me after a 22 year friendship.

She could just be stressed and busy and not managing to answer her messages. Have you tried calling her?

Lovelydiscusfish · 23/12/2021 02:57

That’s hard. Could be mental health issues - I have had times where I have really struggled to keep in touch with people.

How close friends were you?

ClaryFairchild · 23/12/2021 03:06

Sounds like she is - it could be intentional or unintentional, either way you're not a priority for her.

Maybe try phoning?

Ohmycron · 23/12/2021 03:19

Yes. Bin her

KatherineJaneway · 23/12/2021 03:22

Why not try calling or check her social media to see if she is super busy etc.

Difficult to know from what you've said here.

Has the friendship always run smoothly? Have you had any fall outs?

The reason I ask is that I have an ex-friend with the hide of a rhino who can be incredibly rude and then expect to just carry on as if nothing has happened. I have declined her recent invitations without a reason, just said no, and she just doesn't get it.

Pick up the phone and ask her. There is either a problem in her life or with you, either way find out and then decide what you wish to do with the information, support or not.
