Hello wise women of Mumsnet. Does anyone know anything about Emotional Abuse Perpetrators courses?

Can they work? Any advice?

Thank you

Such courses are no answer to domestic violence and they tend also to have a very low success rate. These people rarely if ever change and a short term course would not even scratch the surface.

The people who ran the freedom program I attended had a very negative view. It can teach them other ways to abuse by listening to other abusers and change their tactics to be less overt but no less upsetting.

My personal view is that the individual should want to attend the course whilst definitely not being in a relationship with 0 opportunity to get back with their victim. I think this is very unlikely as quite often the motivation is to just turn up to look like they are trying but to punish their victims for it eventually.
