NC with sister

I’m NC with my sister, in fact pretty much all the family don’t speak to her. But my mum keeps saying when my children are older she will try to make contact with them and try to turn them against me Hmm she makes it sound as if it WILL happen like they don’t even have their own minds, I’m NC with her for a serious reason. Has this happened with anyone that’s been NC with a family member? Have they tried to contact your kids separately as they’ve got older?

Nope. I've been NC with my three sisters for over 40 years, I have 2 daughters, they've never made any attempt to contact them. They still make attempts to relate to me from time to time but my dds have never been approached. I wouldn't be surprised if it's never even occurred to them actually.

CoffeeRunner · 14/11/2021 11:11

No. I'm NC with my sisters too. My eldest DCs are in their 20's & there have been no attempts at contact.

Whilst it always remains a possibility I wouldn't think it all that likely.

MrsPleasant · 14/11/2021 11:14

My brother has stopped all contact with me, but maintains contact with my DC. I doubt he is trying to turn DC against me, don't spend any time thinking about it.

TurnUpTurnip · 14/11/2021 11:17

Thanks, she can’t have contact with them as what she did involves them. I think she probably would try to make contact as with the internet it’s so easy to now, but it’s more the fact that it WILL happen and they will fall for it, we live about 10 minutes drive from her but planning to move before they are older.

Why do you think your mum is saying this, TurnUp?

Pumpkinsonparade · 14/11/2021 11:20

I was nc with my dm when dd was in secondary school.. Dm wrote to dd via her friend (dd's). Dd confessed dgm had been pressuring her to meet up. I left a vm saying to stay away or I would legal advice. She stayed away.

Sparklfairy · 14/11/2021 11:23

Why is your mum shit stirring?

TurnUpTurnip · 14/11/2021 11:23

I don’t know there could be some truth to it she has tried to contact old family members before (about different things) but it hasn’t worked, and she’s also tried to turn my brother against my mum. But I don’t think my kids are stupid but she kept saying “she will turn them against you in later life” “she will find a way trust me!” My children are aware of why we don’t speak to her so I would be amazed if they would want any contact with her but apparently they will.

Yes. NC with SIL and her kids for very serious reasons.
My dc aren't that old but somehow they got hold of eldest DCs WhatsApp and messaged him. Angry Needless to say I blocked immediately.

TurnUpTurnip · 14/11/2021 12:27

That’s what I dread, I have a Feeling she will try to contact them on SM when they are older but I just can’t believe my mum thinks they are stupid enough that they will fall for it or want to have a relationship with her after everything she did. She has turned up at my house twice since I’ve been NC (didn’t answer the door either time) and has sent presents here on their birthday which I never gave to them. So that’s why I will be looking to move eventually

I’m NC with my sister now due to her being a nasty bitch when she likes, and over the years I’ve always just carried on. Not anymore. My dds have known this over the years and obviously the reasons behind the NC now. She has contacted them by text, which they have responded to, but they’re not interested. That’s their decision. I didn’t influence it.

Why is your mum so adamant that they will listen to her and turn against you by what she says?

TurnUpTurnip · 14/11/2021 13:02

That’s what I don’t understand 😐 I was saying well no they won’t and she kept insisting that they will, it will happen, she will find a way, she will make them, even though I pointed out she has tried to contact other family members kids who want nothing to do with her so why would mine?!

I’m no contact with my brother and would not be at all surprised if this happened. He has already attempted to get my eldest’s phone number and has ‘apologised’ for my ‘behaviour’. My family did everything they could to cut me off from my own mother in order to bully her into doing what they wanted so I know the parent/child bond is not sacrosanct.

BruiserWoods · 14/11/2021 13:11

Horrible family dynamics! Your mum is threeatening you on your sisters behalf.
