Low Self Esteem and Dating

Hi, after being widowed 3 years ago I think I’d like to start dating.

The trouble is I have incredibly low self esteem after having a sexless marriage (roughly once every 2 years after the initial 2 months).

I also feel like everything’s moved on so much after the last 16 years and I don’t understand how to date.

My friend thinks the cure for low self esteem is lots of fun/doesn’t mean anything tinder dates. However I think if that’s what I tried to do I’d have no one picking me and would feel even worse.

I also have a crush on a friend of a friend which I’m probably dwelling on too much because I feel this way.

Has anyone been in a similar situation or have advice please?

How does your crush feel about you? Any moves to be made in that direction?

Have you considered counselling for your self esteem issues?

I, personally, loved OLD and it’s a massive ego boost for a lot of women. However, it isn’t for everyone and is probably not a great idea if you’re not feeling emotionally robust. Particularly Tinder.

I used to think my self esteem was quite good, but it’s taken a battering from women via OLD this year, to the point I’ve given up really.

If your feeling strong go for it, but tread with care as can be brutal especially if you don’t get much attention.
