Why do people lie over every thing esp small stuff Hmm

Brought some cakes yesterday, just Found them in glass cupboard '' hidden ''. Most already eaten .

Partner says he put them in when he took glasses out to do a drink .. we have 2 food cupboards so why would u stick them in the glass one it dont make sense ..

Uch I don't know why some people lie about daft things. It's also really tricky to handle as, if you're anything like me, you can't be bothered arguing with an adult about something that's obviously untrue. The people who lie like this will tell you black is white until the end of time.

Just noticed your username, hope you're doing ok Flowers

My ex lied constantly about small things and it drove me crazy. He would swear blind he hadn't done something when I knew full well he had. I've since found out that he also lied about a lot of big things too and now I have no idea what was real and what was a lie. Never again will I be in a relationship where my partner lies. After the first lie I'm out of there!

Wait.., sorry… might be a cultural thing… can someone explain this to me in American? (I know, but please)

Hate to ask but I’ve been trying to understand why cakes would be hidden and why the pantry placement would be a thing.

Truly just trying to understand.

Partner hid the cakes cause he wanted to eat them all? Rather than put it back in the pantry which would be the normal thing to do.

@coffy11

Ohhhhhhh …. Thank you!

What an odd thing to do? This is concerning right? Someone hoarding sweets and lying?

This isn’t a thing right? It’s kind of unsettling and selfish…

What a turn off

There been other lies in past n I've tried move on but about cakes is ridiculous . Still denying it , saying didn't do on purpose or to hide them .

If they constantly lie about little things, know that they lie about big things too with no qualms. It isn't a normal thing. It's something people with severe issues do. And they aren't the sort of issues you hang about and support. They're the ones you run from before they spread to you and destroy your life.

Pumpkinsonparade · 11/11/2021 10:24

Do you have dc? My dh stashes stuff so they can't eat a week's treats in 1 day!

This is such good advice! I wish I'd thought this way when I saw my stbxh lie about silly things, first to others and then to me.
Covidcabana · 11/11/2021 14:05

Oh OP it sounds like you're feeling a bit rotten just now. Are you unhappy in the relationship generally?

Pinkbonbon · 11/11/2021 14:13

Definately a really good way to spot a wrongun when you see them lying to other people infront of you!

Or even just exaggerating things. Like their achievements or fanciful yarns about what happened on nights out, ect...

If they'll lie to others, then they'll lie to you and if they let you see them lying to others, then that's them saying 'i already know you are under the thumb and will let this shit slide'.

It's very common behaviour from abusive individuals and a good way to spot their kind relatively early on. Lies and exaggerations.

But some people are also just pathological liars...which is also toxic for you and not something you should hang around for.
