Separation/divorce as a SAHM

Hi,
I'm a SAHM to children with additional needs, who are in receipt of DLA. I want to separate and divorce, as husband of 12 yrs has cheated. We have a joint mortgage. I cannot work due to SEN needs of children. I have been a SAHM to care for children and support his career. I'd like to know where I stand, and if any other parents in a similar position have experiences to share. I would like 5050 custody, but he has long working hours. Alternative weekends is more likely. I don't want to drip feed, but I am nervous of this being in a public forum.

You need to see some solicitors. Take any relevant paperwork (mortgage, salary, pensions, life insurance etc.) so that they can give you a rough idea of what you might expect to walk away with. If your career has taken a backseat due to the children and you remain the primary carer then you could expect more than 50% of the total marital assets. Child maintenance will be higher if he has them for fewer overnights.
