Has anyone resumed action with DH before 6 week check? DD is almost 3 weeks old and I feel fine, when Health Vis was talking to me about contraception (I think she was expecting me to say hardly need to consider that as it's not on the agenda) when I piped up, yes must think of that as I want to resume relations as soon as possible. Thought the poor woman was going to faint. She got a bit flustered and suggested I wait until 6 weeks.

With DS nothing was resumed in the bedroom until about 5 months, or maybe even longer. The stitches were a problem, but this time there is no discomfort.

Yes!! DD was about 4 weeks old - we held out as long as we could Felt fine. We took it slowly and carefully and it was great. Have fun

Clarinet60 · 15/10/2002 22:49

Well, you're both braver women than I.
DS2 is 5 months and I haven't the energy, the inclination, or any other 'the's that could be imagined.
Now, what was that article about men who help on the domestic front getting more sex .... ?

WideWebWitch · 15/10/2002 23:06

Yep, did it before 6 weeks. 4/5 weeks IIRC. Just the once though I was asked about contraception when ds was 10 days old. Should have cackled at that point but prefer your response! Droile, will post that article when I find it. Was Gottman and Silver, University of Washington according to Naomi Wolf but crap bibliography so it's been hard to find. Like a man who does housework then

Don't worry www, I have the naomi wolf book, just being lazy. There's a book at one of my toddler groups about a man showing his son how to do the housework. We pass it round and snigger from time to time.

Alibubbles · 16/10/2002 06:39

10 days both times!! Well I did'n't have any stitches or tear.

My friend was pregnant at her post natal!

SoupDragon · 16/10/2002 07:50

@~*&$! (enter blasphemous comment/obscenity of your choice). No way could I consider this witheither of my 2. With DS1 I was stitched from here to eternity and with DS2 I was sore, stitched and shattered.

Still, if you fell fine and want to then go for it!!

prufrock · 16/10/2002 11:44

8 days after a c section. Instigated by me. I was so horny all through pregnancy and dh wouldn't consider as he was afraid to hurt the baby Does that make me terrible?

dcolagirl · 16/10/2002 12:16

Well dd and ds were both nearly 9lb - no stitches and resumed after 2 weeks both times.

PamT · 16/10/2002 12:35

Sex too soon after giving birth can be lethal. One of our resident midwives might be able to say how soon is dangerous but it is something to do with the blood vessels not shrinking properly and air can be forced into the bloodstream. I read a newspaper article about a local girl who died a couple of days after giving birth because of this. I don't mean to scare you but you really should check it out to be on the safe side.

Clarinet60 · 16/10/2002 13:26

I've heard about this too.
It's rare, but then so are hoovering men.

I'm shuddering at the thought of doing it soon after a c-section - although I suppose, thinking about it, it makes more sense, since certain parts are still pristine.

tsarvo · 16/10/2002 20:33

10 days after c-section, i must of been out of my mind.everything was ok though.

Alibubbles · 16/10/2002 21:11

droile, i love your comment about men!! I have heard about this - air embolism problem being fatal, but didn't know at the time. Don't think it would have stopped me though!!

MABS · 16/10/2002 22:07

well - ds is 2 on Friday and Action Man has not not erected his tent at all recently his (as far as I know)

Clarinet60 · 16/10/2002 22:30

Blimey Alibubbles, you must be keen! Or your DH/P must be irresistable. What a lovely life you must lead. (sorry, just indulging in some self-pity - mine isn't that bad really, he's just irritating the Bejasus out of me at the moment.)

Clarinet60 · 16/10/2002 22:31

LOL Mabs!
DS2 is 5 months and there's no chance yet. Physically I'm OK, but my libido has done one.
