My girlfriend and I have been living together for 18 months but, aside from holidays, only at weekends. We live two hours drive apart. I've been looking for a new job for 9 months but there has been very little in my sector within 30 miles of where she lives. Not being together is starting to become an issue - we both feel it - but we're absolutely committed to being together. She won't move because her dad is in a care home just three miles away and I totally understand this. She also earns three times what I do (but wants to change job as she works ridiculous hours).

We speak every night but at the moment she is unwell and is scheduled for two operations and has some scans and tests coming up relating to a third issue. Not being there for her as much as I would be if we lived together is really tough.

Would love any thoughts or advice from those who've been there before.
