Feel rough when I stay at new boyfriends

Graceful5454 · 24/10/2021 14:33

We've been dating 3 months and I spend a couple of nights a week at his. I just always feel like crap. I don't sleep well. I often feel my stomachs uncomfortable. Why is it you always have wind when you are at someone else's house. I always feel hungover and headachy. Is this normal? Love spending time with him but it's exhausting me for some reason.

He's gone to the shop and I'm currently lying on his bed feeling sleepy and the omelette he made me for breakfast seems to have just made me feel worse lol.

Anxiety with new relationship or just lack of sleep?

Catlitterqueen · 24/10/2021 17:10

OP do you usually stay at his after a night out? Maybe it’s a combination of alcohol, late night, eating out, takeaway? I don’t sleep well when I’m not in my own bed.

myohmywhatawonderfulday · 24/10/2021 17:12

I was allergic to the lights at a place of work.
My friend is allergic to mouse droppings.

It may be that you are allergic to something in his house - especially if you only experience it there.

hellsbells323 · 24/10/2021 17:14

I never settle as well in someone else's home. Never sleep properly and can't fully relax. Totally get the issues about stomach issues...nobody wants to poop or fart at a new boyfriends house do they Grin

Agree that if it were carbon monoxide it would be making him poorly too.

fashionSOS · 24/10/2021 17:17

@category12

Also, are you a bit toilet-shy when you're at his place? If you find it difficult to go in strange places, it might be you're making yourself feel a bit ill.
This is a much more delicate way of putting what I came here to suggest!

It's not uncommon to to feel uncomfortable having normal bowel movements when you're not on home territory, and interfering with your normal habits out of misguided politeness/embarrassment can make you feel really sluggish and unwell.

Kindleandacuppa · 24/10/2021 17:26

So he's currently at the shop, isn't this the part where you go and inspect his apartment, rummaging through drawers and cupboards, then you open the kitchen bin to find the empty medication wrappers he has been drugging you with, suddenly you hear him walking up the stairs well and opening the apartment door you make it back into bed just in time for him entering the apartment, but he's noticed an ornament slightly out of place, you suddenly lose consciousness and wake to find yourself chained to the bed, hair chopped into a bob and dressed in his dead wife's evening dress

Its probably trapped wind x

HesterShaw1 · 24/10/2021 17:27

Take a hot water bottle next time!

prettyteapotsplease · 24/10/2021 17:34

Apart from the aforementioned ideas I'd wonder at his hygiene in the kitchen.

NeverTheHootenanny · 24/10/2021 17:34

One of you needs to break the fart taboo. You’ll both be thankful when you no longer have to hold them in Grin

StormTreader · 24/10/2021 17:37

Check the Carbon Monoxide levels, and also ask when he last hoovered - you might have a mild dust allergy.

RantyAunty · 24/10/2021 18:02

Kitchen hygiene, spoiled food, hand hygiene

@godmum56

do people really have sex with someone you won't fart in front of?
I’ve never farted in front of my husband, not consciously anyway, I’ve probably sleep farted before.
Hattie765 · 24/10/2021 18:44

I know it seems dramatic to go to 'do you think you may be being drugged'. But after finding out my father did it to my mother throughout their marriage I unfortunately know it does happen and I suspect is more prevalent than we know.

Incredibad · 24/10/2021 21:15

I felt like this when our old place had a boiler leak. If it’s not affecting him though idk.

samesign · 24/10/2021 21:19

It's probably because it's a new relationship and you don't feel comfortable enough to feel at home so you're not sleeping well and feeling relaxed like you would in your own home.

Animood · 24/10/2021 22:08

Take some wind settlers in anticipation! Have a poo before you go. Avoid alcohol, it makes you sleep worse.

Sneak off to the sofa or spare room if you need some time to yourself or want to sleep without him. If he asks just blame snoring!!!

Most of all give it time. Will take a while before you're completely comfortable with him.

Bobsyer · 24/10/2021 22:09

Do you poo while you're there? I remember being in that space where I wanted to stay over but also wanted to retain the allure and wouldn't poo or fart.

That combined with general 'not being at home' would be enough for me. I'd say it's unlikely to be CO poisoning if there is another person not being affected at all tbh.

LOL.

Hey everyone. Sorry. It's not a danger situation. It's just uncomfortable I think with embarrassing stuff like eating takeaway. Late nights. Don't like using the toilet there. It's silly probably. Just hoped it would settle. I always feel terrible. Think its a combination of everything

Been with DP ten years and don’t even pee with him in the room let alone poo. Can’t think of anything less sexy than seeing/smelling my fella having a shit in front of me tbh - would put me right off!

Chocaholic9 · 25/10/2021 11:13

I've never farted in front of a partner, either. And I definitely wouldn't keep the door open when going to the loo. An ex did that once, left the door open to pee and I hated it.

Never? Like, never?

How the hell have you managed that? xD

Chocaholic9 · 25/10/2021 13:54

I don't get a lot of gas. I used to fart loads when I was young but I worked out I was dairy intolerant, stopped having it and am no longer gassy. Maybe I farted when asleep but I don't remember ever doing it. A few of my past partners have farted in front of me though.

noblegreenk · 25/10/2021 14:02

Are you holding in wind/poos at his house? That is obviously going to affect your tummy. Also the hungover, achey and headache feeling may be due to different pillows. Sounds strange but I bought new pillows and felt like I had a hangover every morning for over a month. It was really dreadful! A couple of nights ago, I switched back to my old pillows and have been back to normal ever since.

Neither do I. Wheat makes me very gassy (as well as itchy) so I don’t eat it. Beer too - never drink beer.

If you choose food that suits your metabolism and you chew it properly, you shouldn’t have too much wind.
