Feel rough when I stay at new boyfriends

We've been dating 3 months and I spend a couple of nights a week at his. I just always feel like crap. I don't sleep well. I often feel my stomachs uncomfortable. Why is it you always have wind when you are at someone else's house. I always feel hungover and headachy. Is this normal? Love spending time with him but it's exhausting me for some reason.

He's gone to the shop and I'm currently lying on his bed feeling sleepy and the omelette he made me for breakfast seems to have just made me feel worse lol.

OP posts:

Is this normal?

For a first post on MN? No.

Potpourri23 · 24/10/2021 15:12

To me it sounds like OP is almost hinting that she thinks he's drugging her! It reads like one of those novels where you guess what's happening before the heroine does 🤔

Imposterish · 24/10/2021 15:14

What an interesting first post.

What a strange situation.

BiscuitLover09876 · 24/10/2021 15:14

Less dramatic but are you drinking enough water? And how is is food hygiene? Fridge working properly?

dworky · 24/10/2021 15:14

Can't be carbon monoxide because it would affect him also.

OverweightPidgeon · 24/10/2021 15:15

@Sparkai I think this too . I always used to get really bad trapped wind when at a news boyfriends house, I obviously underestimated how often I farted at home!

BiscuitLover09876 · 24/10/2021 15:15

I don't get why it matters for a first post. Does first post need to be formulaic?

Don't stay there again then.

category12 · 24/10/2021 15:22

Maybe his kitchen and food hygiene is poor?

Open all the windows and get some fresh air in?

honeylulu · 24/10/2021 15:23

I was going to suggest it might be bowel related. I always feel like you describe after camping/ festivals. Without meaning to I end up not pooing while I'm there. I know I should if I need to but convince myself I don't need to. I feel really bloated, queasy and off colour after a couple of days. If you're eating richer food and having more alcohol and getting less sleep while you're there then that may exacerbate the effect.

BrilliantBetty · 24/10/2021 15:23

Can he come to your place instead

slashlover · 24/10/2021 15:23

I feel hungover, headachy and off my food if I stay at my sister's purely because she has the heating on high ALL THE TIME. I can't cope with the heat like that, it's like being in a furnace. (She has regular boiler checks and a CM detector).

category12 · 24/10/2021 15:26

Also, are you a bit toilet-shy when you're at his place? If you find it difficult to go in strange places, it might be you're making yourself feel a bit ill.

Chocaholic9 · 24/10/2021 15:26

I feel like this too. Sharing a bed means crap sleep for me. I don't like doing it. Poor sleep could definitely account for how you feel.

starfishmummy · 24/10/2021 15:30

My first thought was is the bedroom overly warm or not ventilated enough? I like a window open slightly when I sleep so that would be a consideration. I'm not particularly thinking carbon monoxide, just not being stuffy.

starfishmummy · 24/10/2021 15:31

This too. You have put it much better than I could!!
HunkyPunk · 24/10/2021 15:34

Are you drinking plenty of water to re hydrate after sex?

Didn’t know this was a thing Grin

Moaning0000 · 24/10/2021 15:34

Does he always make you omelettes?

I feel dreadful after eating omelettes, much like you describe. It took a while to make the connection. Not that uncommon but strange.

My other guess would be carbon monoxide. Does he have an alarm?

UppityDownitty · 24/10/2021 15:37

Holding in my wind and not wanting to use the loo for anything other than wees means I get awful trapped wind, boating, feel sick etc. Add to that the crap sleep from sharing a bed, having more alcohol than usual, and usually rich food, lots of time watching films etc… and it’s a recipe for feeling sluggish and bleurgh.
Also, I’m someone who needs time alone to rest & decompress. Staying with someone means I feel drained & out of sorts.

Helpimfalling · 24/10/2021 15:37

Always feel like this away from home I'm not sure why I get gassy and unsettled stomach

Never at home it's always other peoples

I always think it's a psychological issue

furbabymama87 · 24/10/2021 15:39

It'll get easier when you're more comfortable to fart and poo in his house.

Simonjt · 24/10/2021 15:39

Me too, holidays are fun!
AndTime · 24/10/2021 15:40

I thought Carbon Monoxide first but as others have said he would be ill too.

Does he have a signature dish you could be allergic or intolerant to a specific ingredient?

Sakurami · 24/10/2021 15:41

Happens to me too but because I drink and eat more, stay up later etc.

If everything else is the same then check out the other stuff people have suggested here.
