The positive impact of strangers

I saw an elderly man leaving a supermarket barged out of the way by some over enthusiastic teenagers who didn't give him a second thought as they ran into the store. He shakily sat down on a nearby bench clutching his trolley to get his breath back. I asked if he was ok? He nodded sadly. I told him that the last time I was barged out of the way it saved my life. We ended up having an amazing chat about the unknown people who save lives (rather than the idiots that end them). I'm sure many people have been saved by strangers they wish they could thank; and would be grateful to hear of any experiences that I could relate back to so many people that are giving up on any humanity left.

Oh bless him op ,poor old boy.
Some people really don't understand how shaken that can leave someone, good on you for having a chat with him it would have really made him feel better.
I do make a conscious effort to do things like this but sometimes life gets in the way .

I was 14ish, walking to secondary school. I felt really sad this one morning, I don't recall why. But a car passed the junction, could obviously see that Id got a face like a slapped arse and gave me the biggest smile he had. It made me smile and he made me feel so happy and I still remember that magical day, 35 years later.

Im sure he absolutely appreciated the chat. It's nice to make time for other people sometimes. A lovely story.
