Rude famous people thread 2

Just read the whole of the first one and it's not taking new fecking messages!
I wanted to carry it on as I love sleb threads I don't have a life

I'd be GUTTED if Joanna Lumley or Glenda Jackson were horrible.

I've always felt, totally irrationally, that Dominic West would be a tit.

Dolly Parton MUST be lovely.

David Walliams gives me the serious creeps and I'm glad to read it's not just me.

Mine:
John Humphrys: twunt. Argumentative, combative, rude for the sake of being rude. Loathed him.
Graham Norton. 'met' him years ago in a room full of people, admittedly, and talked in a small group with him, but he seemed funny, sweet, surprisingly shy. He had to sort of make an entrance into our boardroom and when he opened the door and saw how many people had crowded in there to meet him he looked genuinely taken aback and a bit shaken, which I liked him for.

Desperate to know who the 'don't get funny with me, dear' author from the last thread is!

I saw Kate winslet and Ned on a walk in west wittering. She and Ned and her dog stood aside to let my dh and me pass. She smiled at me.

Sat across from Piers Brosnan at the height of his fame on a transatlantic flight, surprisingly chatty and seemed a genuinely nice guy

StormOfSekhmet · 13/10/2021 16:10

Julie Andrews was rude to my Auntie.

lots33 · 13/10/2021 16:14

@IntermittentParps I can confirm that Joanna Lumley is gorgeous - warm, charming, not showy at all and genuinely interested in other people.
I spent several hours with her in a social setting and she was just lovely and apparently highly regarded by fellow actors.

Classica · 13/10/2021 16:14

@StormOfSekhmet

Julie Andrews was rude to my Auntie.
Was it when Julie Andrews was working as a nanny for your auntie's fiancé? Seducing him was rude to be fair.

@StormOfSekhmet

Julie Andrews was rude to my Auntie.
Read Julie Andrews, thought Julie Walters!

This is wonderful to read. She seems so genuinely warm. And a HOOT and slightly mad, in the best way Grin

My Auntie lived in New York for a long time, she was a Nanny to two Surgeons. She met many famous people, Frank Sinatra, Marilyn Monroe, who were lovely!! One night she was backstage, and Julie Andrews came sweeping past, she addressed my Auntie with a rude tone, and said "I'm not doing autographs tonight!!" My Auntie looked her up and down and replied, "What would I want your autograph for?"

Will Smith on holiday in SA years ago with a blonde young woman NOT Jada even though they were married. I was super excited and asked the lovely staff member if he might be receptive to chatting (this was a fabulous hotel on a game reserve with only a few guests at a time, so the guests tended to chat over the evening BBQ and on the morning drive.)
She said a definite nope, think he'd been a bit 'demanding' of them.
Shame, I'd always thought he was fab. Slebs get to have time off of course and I can also imagine he maybe wouldn't want to explain why he was draped over someone definitely not his wife!

larkstar · 13/10/2021 16:52

I met Dave Myers (Hairy Bike) earlier this summer and had a brief chat with him - he was on a canal boat with his wife Lil - they were both utterly charming, generous and chatty - what a lovely guy.

I was out for a run late one night around Uxbridge 1982 - I was studying at Brunel University. I came across a man slumped in a hedge - I thought he might have collapsed or fallen so I tried to check on him and haul him out - he was a hefty guy. As I was grabbing him I realised he was blind drink and he took a swing at me and started effing and blinding - he didn’t hit me but came close - I was like f u and left him floundering in the hedge. The post grads I was sharing with said - that’s Chris Finnegan - well known around the area at that time - an Olympic Gold medal winning middleweight boxer: clearly past his best - sad eh?

Watchingyou2sleezes · 13/10/2021 17:00

Oh and Steven Segal in a Moscow hotel (yeah lucky me)
Some big knobhead body guard came into the bar to try and clear the area we were in because
"Mr Segal is coming down in a minute"

We started laughing and told him to fuck off (we also had people there that could make him see the error of his ways).

The slap headed pony tailed walking ego did deign to appear a few minutes later, hearing out English came over and was actually alright (considering the amount of shite knobhead films he's made) and had a few drinks with us.

Great response! Although could be read as your Auntie was rude to Julie Andrews. Grin

Ooh I saw Steven Seagal walking along a New York street - he gets around! Everyone was staring, he was loving it and I found it terribly funny as he was so serious about it all. I half expected him to break out into some shoulder rolls on the pavement and

To ajandjjmum, I think you could be right!! My Auntie was the absolute Queen of cutting come-backs!! 😆😆

CrumpleHornedSnowcack · 13/10/2021 17:16

Once had a horse riding lesson with Fern Britton in the class - she was absolutely lovely, very warm & chatty

John Cravan also lovely

BoxOfDreams · 13/10/2021 17:19

Many years ago we went to an evening lecture hosted by our local Wildlife Preservation Trust. It was David Attenborough talking about the indigenous animals of the Galapagos islands. We'd bought tickets for the buffet afterwards but didn't know a soul there so sat on our own at a table. Door opened and in walks DA with someone from the Wildlife Trust. He came and sat with us for ages and we had a lovely chat. After he left we finished our food and went down to the lobby to leave. He was in the lobby chatting and when he saw us heading for the door he stepped toward it and opened it for us. I love him.

Elderflower14 · 13/10/2021 17:27

Martin Freeman was so lovely to ds2

cameocat · 13/10/2021 17:28

@IntermittentParps Joanne lumley is pretty fabulous in real life. Advises to always enter a room hips first as this is the most flattering (if you're tall and willowy like her!)

Once he got over himself he was actually decent company. If you ever flick through your TV guide at 11pm you're guaranteed to get a shite Segal film on at least one channel. It always makes me think of that tit bodyguard's face when we told him to fuck off.
debucnik · 13/10/2021 17:46

@SpindleWhirl

Nice footballers who took time with young DC: Peter Crouch, David James and Sol Campbell. So lovely and patient (and they had to bend down a lot!)
I wouldnt call David James nice after he followed me in to the ladies in a bar once and really didnt want to take no for an answer but maybe hes nice to kids I guess!
WildFlowerBees · 13/10/2021 17:54

I met Bono once through work he was very up his own arse very don't you know who I am. I had been asked if I could get his autograph so when I asked him he rolled his eyes snatched the piece of paper and said 'what's your name' I replied 'oh it's not for me it's for my friend I can't stand you' needless to say I didn't get the autograph Grin

Am I the only one who finds Joanna Lumley really annoying?

SparklingLime · 13/10/2021 18:26

No. Me too. Smug and grating.
