Rude "famous people"

We have a famous designer at my kid's school, born to a very wealthy family. Her kids are nice
She can be very unfriendly but inconsistently so - will often blank people one day and be friendly the next. Acts quite haughtily with the teachers. At times very abrupt.
She doesn't have to be friends with us civilians - that I fully understand. But what's with the rude behaviour? What's going on there? The school mums are a pretty innocuous bunch and I'd like to think we are friendly and welcoming.

I’d classify him at the biggest arse I’ve never met! I was at an event as a kid (this was Early 90s so in his broom cupboard days). There were 8 kids there desperate to meet him. He refused to speak to us but agreed to sign something for us. What an arse! Couldn’t take / minutes out of his day to meet some kids.

Maybe that's the reason why the only one they could find who was willing to co-present with him was a puppet gopher Grin

Buffoonborisisatwat · 09/10/2021 23:02

She's quite old now, her kids will be grown up and not being picked up from school

AnotherGo123 · 09/10/2021 23:02

Griff Rhys Jones is an absolute horror. Nasty. Sarah Beany thinks the Daily Mail is hiding in her bushes and thinks everyone is going to recognise her.

George Michael was very nervous and quite odd but absolutely lovely and so polite

Puffalicious · 09/10/2021 23:02

My colleague says Dermot O'Leary was just fabulous: intelligent, interested and interesting. Tiny but lovely.

PurpleFlower1983 · 09/10/2021 23:02

On the flip side I met Angela Lansbury and she was absolutely lovely, so chatty and friendly.

ThePontiacBandit · 09/10/2021 23:06

That’s made me laugh WeBuilt, poor Gordon! Grin

@TheLittleRedToothbrush

Me thinks she may be in hotels too ? Anyway I nominate Phillip Schofield as the biggest arse I've ever met !
Oh could be that woman who goes round shabby hotels and 'improves' them... Calls people 'dahling' when bollicking them
WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 09/10/2021 23:07

I’m trying to think of religiously-inclined Irish 80s singers who did soap ads!

Think back, look deep inside your mind's eye and use Your Vision.

BrightYellowDaffodil · 09/10/2021 23:09

Cilla Black was the gold standard for rude celebs

Popbitch has always been most scathing about her. I can well believe it.

feelingsicknow · 09/10/2021 23:13

Okay maybe not a popular one but I work in the same building as Michael Gove (or did until recently) and he is incredibly polite and mannerly. You know the sort of 'holding the door open stories' that people tell? Well, every time I have ever walked through a door and held it open for the person behind me - who then happened to be Gove - he would genuinely look you in the eye and say 'thank you very much'. No matter how busy or blustering his aides were as they walked through with him.

It really does go a long way.

You can fundamentally disagree with someone's politics / position / outlook on life, but I will always have time for someone with manners.

A well known mp’s partner was brought in by ambulance in labour. She and the mp totally kicked off demanding private maternity care, lots of threats. She was well into established labour and we don’t have a private maternity wing… it’s an nhs hospital and there was no time to transfer her. I realise it’s am emotional time but the behaviour was outrageous from a senior politician.

youvegottenminuteslynn · 09/10/2021 23:16

I keep remembering people who were in person just AWFUL.

Two words. James. Corden.

Unbelievably rude. Like unreal.

NeedAHoliday2021 · 09/10/2021 23:18

Sarah Beeny lives round here and our paths have crossed a couple of times through child activities, always polite and gave her afternoon to support the local hospital for free.

SecretKeeper1 · 09/10/2021 23:19

My friend lived with Victoria Beckham for a while (they were at the same dance school I think) and says she was very funny but still owes her a fiver Grin

BloggingHeavan · 09/10/2021 23:20

@SingaporeSling01

We have a VERY famous TV / actor dad at my children’s school. Sunglasses on whatever the weather.
Not even a little clue? Grin

I think that got in the press, though I can't recall who it was!

I'm going Claire Sweeney as the Brookside fertility clinic one! Also gutted about Marcus Rashford! I bought his book for all our year 6's when they left in July!

I once accidentally said good morning to Noddy Holder because I thought I mistakenly thought I knew him and we had a giggle about it together. Grin

Still1nLove · 09/10/2021 23:22

Gary Oldman and Alison moyet. I worked at a hotel in london and served a lot of celebs and high profile personalities. These two were the worst

aConcernedPrude · 09/10/2021 23:25

Delighted to read this, I love her Grin

Sxxyfing · 09/10/2021 23:31

Everyone knows this but Russell crowe...
I worked in a restaraunt in Sydney and he insisted on coming in through the back door, through the kitchen and crept along behind the bar (open to the whole restaraunt) to get to the private dining room, wearing a huge hat and sunglasses (it was night time). Once in there I was serving but was on strict instructions not to speak or look at him. He didn't say thank you or acknowledge any of the staff at all.
Also John Torode from masterchef was awful! A woman came in and arrived first (not sure if his wife, gf) and he arrived like 30 mins late, and then spent the whole time on his phone ignoring her and bossing staff around and then when the bill came asked to speak to the chef who he obviously knew, and left without paying

It was like talking to my Nan - I was so pleased because I love her too! Grin

Is it Alex Polizzi??

crossstitchingnana · 09/10/2021 23:35

Loving this thread!

You rarely hear a bad word about Victoria Beckham. A PR friend of mine met her in the early Spice G days at an event, and said she was really warm and amusing.

I think that Gove is popular (on a personal level) in Westminster.
