Do guys generally describe presents as ‘perfect’?

Gave my friend a birthday present and he said “that’s actually perfect thank you”

We dated briefly earlier this year but decided better as friends, probably looking too much into it but wanted to know your opinions?

It means he likes the present.

TheGrumpyGoat · 30/09/2021 16:08

He likes the present.

HollowTalk · 30/09/2021 16:09

Read the thread where the boyfriend said he'd rather have the money! Your guy said it was perfect - he liked it.

TheGrumpyGoat · 30/09/2021 16:09

Is this the friend who you couldn’t tell you were having a secret relationship with a mutual friend?

mistermagpie · 30/09/2021 16:10

I think you're overthinking a bit. I say 'thanks that's perfect' when an assistant gets me something I'm looking for in a shop or wherever, it doesn't have any underlying implications about my feelings for them or anything.

You got him a present that he liked, job done.

layladomino · 30/09/2021 16:23

I'd say it means he likes the present. Maybe it's perfect because he was thinking of treating himself to the exact same thing. Mabe like pp he uses perfect to mean 'great!' (my DD does this ALL the time!! Smile).

fumfspos · 30/09/2021 16:25

He likes the present. End of story.
I don't think you can read anything into that at all.
I say "That's perfect" to loads of people about loads of things.

Pinkbonbon · 30/09/2021 16:27

I would just take that as 'I was just thinking of buying that myself/that'll come come really handy/I really like this gift'

Aprilx · 30/09/2021 16:39

It means he likes the present, I don’t even understand what else it could mean or why you are asking.

ZestyMaximus · 30/09/2021 16:40

It means he liked the gift and is thanking you for it.

It does not mean that he regrets the decision to knock the romance on the head.

... unless the gift was a photo of the two of you together in a heart shaped frame?

gannett · 30/09/2021 18:47

I don't think use the word "perfect" is remotely gendered.

I don't think "thanks that's perfect" is a phrase that bears ANY reading into it other than what it actually means.

girlmom21 · 30/09/2021 18:51

'Perfect' isn't reserved for women.

Lurcherloves · 03/10/2021 21:49

I think there’s a little intimacy in that you were able to choose a perfect gift for him but it would depend on the nature of your relationship. Which only the two of you would know

HeddaGarbled · 03/10/2021 23:55

Oh dear, I don’t think there’s anything to read into this and I think you need to start detaching yourself from him.
