Those of you with a strained relationship with certain family members or just give me your view -

Which one is worse -

  1. Being mentioned about but whilst not really caring. Fake.
    “So how is Sarah getting on (i don’t give a sh!t about Sarah)”

  2. Not asking at all. No acknowledgement. You don’t exist

I don’t think it’s “fake” to go along with well established social graces. Asking how somebody is when you’re not particularly invested in how they are or asking after somebody you don’t especially think much about is just standard social lubricant.

But in reality, I’ve no idea what people think or say about me when I’m not there (and I suspect it isn’t much or often) so I’d never know whether they’d picked 1 or 2.
