Absolutely no idea where to post this re DS12

DS (just turned 12) has opened up to me today about something/s that are happening at high school (he just went into high school after the holidays in August so S1). A girl in his year is spreading rumours about DS wanting to tape her and references to him being a paedophile. I'm devastated and have no clue what to do for him.

I've emailed his pupil support requesting a meeting...I've half a mind to reach out to police liaison but not sure if I'm being rational or just wanting to hit out.

For the avoidance of doubt I have no reason to believe the accusations of being true. DS is a quiet boy...spends most of his time with DH and I...he has 1 or 2 what I'd call close friends who either come to the house to see each other, of visit each other's houses.

What do I do?

I would contact the police
Perhaps before her parents do
Be as open transparent honest supportive and non judgmental to all parties
There may be a huge back story here involving others which needs action before someone gets really hurt
The school also need to be aware of this urgently

You also have not heard the other side of things. I'm sorry, but kids sometimes do shit we would never expect of them.

Wait and speak to the schools pupil support. Get to the bottom of things first. It could be a misunderstanding. Perhaps someone else posing as him online said something and both your son and the girl are victims.

I've emailed his pupil support this evening asking to a time to go in and see her. It's an inset day here tomorrow but hope she will pick up and respond.

From what I can gather it started over a WhatsApp message (fucking modern technology). The girl in question asked DS a question...DS was in process of answering when she messaged again along the lines of 'you want to have sex with me, don't you' ...DS hit send on his answer to her previous question which happened to be a 'yes' ... but the timing of the messaging looked like he was saying yes to wanting to have sex with her...she screenshot it and has been sharing it around.

FFS they are 12! Can't believe this...

Make sure he keeps all of his messages
Don't delete anything so the full transcript can be shown if need be
