I feel so low and worried about my future since my break up that I've spent the morning googling fortune tellers!!! I just want some comfort even though I know it is all a scam :(

Spend the money on counselling instead. Or joining an evening class. Or taking up a new hobby.

Or anything positive that will help you make a fresh start.

layladomino · 13/09/2021 12:17

Echo @IM0GEN comments.

There are plenty of productive things you can do to help you feel better / move forward. There are no magic potions easy fixes I'm afraid. But ther are things you can do that are fun and will help you to feel better about yourself and more equipped for future relationships.

All the best.

youvegottenminuteslynn · 13/09/2021 12:19

Agree with PP - spend the money on counselling.

Crumpets123 · 13/09/2021 12:23

I am having counselling, I have done different classes, I'm trying so hard. Just having a bad few days :(

Spend that money on a fab new hairstyle , facial and new outfit ! New pants ! Always makes me feel better about myself

AnaViaSalamanca · 13/09/2021 13:34

You can also buy a nice scent, some candles and incense.

Then read a free horoscope online Grin

Pinkbonbon · 13/09/2021 13:40

Definately spend the money on pampering yourself instead. Or on a day trip perhaps.

I'm not psychic lol but I read my own cards. Honestly though, i find cards mostly tell you 'it'll be ok...ultimately' and point out questions/areas you need to consider in your life in order to improve things. If you sit down with a pen and paper and in a quiet room, you'll probably be able to write out these things yourself. They are pretty much just tools for suggestion. For me anyway.

Perhaps a real psychic would be able to find more information. But honestly, how many of them are real? I'm gonna guess 1 in 100.

givinglessfucksdaily · 13/09/2021 13:55

@Crumpets123 I'm going to give you a free reading !
Take some time to work on yourself !
What do you need
What do you want
Who do you have in your life
What can you do to fill the gaps ? Life is not always handed to us on a plate
Can you start a new hobby, group, club ?
Do you have some trustworthy girlfriends or family that you could spend time with and have some fun days out ?

Don't forget to make that appt .. hair / face/ nails
Whatever makes you happy lovely girl 💐

The thing that helped me during my break up was reading and researching meditation and manifestations. I guess like you, I was trying to find answers and reading The Secret really helped me.

Hen2018 · 13/09/2021 14:06

I’m sorry you feel down.

Honestly, I think you’d be better going for a walk and treating yourself to a cup of tea and a bun in a nice cafe.

CrumpleHornedSnowcack · 13/09/2021 14:10

there was someone on here a while ago who gave me a free tarot reading, I have kept it & it was amazingly accurate.

Would love another one

LemonTT · 13/09/2021 14:19

You are looking for someone to tell you it will get better.

Life almost always does get better after a split. The emotions become less intense and fade away. You will meet someone new, he could be a prince or a frog. But that’s why you will keep your options open by dating lots of frogs and princes. When you are sure it’s a prince you will be able to open a new life chapter.

Life doesn’t get better if you give into destructive forces. That’s drinking too much, not taking care of yourself or seeking out con artists.

TheFoundations · 13/09/2021 14:26

What is it that you're so worried is going to happen to you? Get specific, so that you can look at exactly what you need to do to reassure yourself.

If you see a psychic, they'll say reassuring things and you'll feel better for 10 minutes, and then your brain will start saying 'But what if they were wrong..?'

Freddy12 · 13/09/2021 14:37

Spend the money on almost anything else ! They are skilled readers of people and are interested in your money …. Go out for a nice meal, a weekend away, donate to the cats home anything!

SarahBellam · 13/09/2021 14:39

Would you be interested in buying some magic beans?

AdmiralCain · 13/09/2021 15:39

Crumpets123, I'm extremely scientific but ALL of my family love fortune tellers. I say this truthfully, It works for my family and helps them, any problems or feeling down, it works for them. I can see the similarities to counselling, somebody making time to listen to you. Psychics can act as a placebo.
£1 per minute can bloody well add up with a counsellor though so I can see the appeal of £20 and a cuppa with a psychic.

I've heard of people having incredible sessions and saying they are gifted and knew things no stranger could know. For me I think they 'read you' grift you, see your body language, where your eyes look, how you shift when they something, how you react, offer up a word and act on that, look at your clothes and if you have a wedding ring or not or neckless. If it brings you comfort and you have £20 to flutter - why not!

Crumpets123 · 13/09/2021 16:18

Thank you everyone. I know that it is a con or scam, but then you can't help but cling on to those stories where people say that they said things they could never guess, or predicted things that then happened etc.

What I'm scared of is I just feel worried I will never be happy, or be in love and be loved back and have a healthy, happy relationship. You are right that I just want someone to tell me it will be okay and to make me feel better! But tbh I know I'm too cynical anyway and probably wouldn't believe what they said (unless they did say something they completely couldnt know!)

I know the money is better well spent somewhere else :(

waybill · 13/09/2021 16:34

You could always go and talk to a minister of religion. Even if you have no faith they will always listen to your worries.

TheFoundations · 13/09/2021 16:35

Spend some time finding out why you're so scared to be alone. Single life can be great, and really, you should try to learn to be happy single before you have another relationship, otherwise your happiness will rely (as it does now) on someone else's actions.

Spend the money on doing something you've always wanted to do. Do a course or by a work of art or a piano or an excellent new food processor or a swish laptop or a skydive, or whatever you will be able to look back on and say 'I'm glad I spent that money on that'

TheFoundations · 13/09/2021 16:37

By the way, I'm a fortune teller, and everything is going to be great for you. You'll be happy, you'll win the lottery, and everybody will respect and love you. You will be single for a long time (and possibly for ever), but you'll be so busy being fabulous that you won't even particularly notice.

(Did it work?)

toomanypsychics · 13/09/2021 22:15

Hi OP.
Please be careful as having psychic readings can get addictive. They can provide hope and reassurance but even the good ones don't get everything right. It's much better to use your own intuition.

There's a book called Psychic Junkie which is the true story of how a wannabe actress got taken in with readings and spent a fortune.
