Things you hate about Online Dating....

Just for a laugh, I thought I'd start a thread about the bad and the ugly of OLD...

Here's mine:

  1. When men have a picture of a then holding a child on their profile, and then say 'oh, by the way, it's not mine, I promise.' Why include it if it's someone else's?
  1. When men say 'if you want to know anything, just ask.' I'm sorry, ask what? You haven't given me anything to ask about!
  1. When men just write their social media details on their profile with the words 'add me' and nothing else. No thank you. I'm not a love island contestant.

Looking forward to hearing everyone else's Smile

@zebedeeandtheroundabout

When Hinge tells me I am a good match with someone unsuitable. He is 5 foot 5 and likes red wine. I am 6 foot and don't drink.

These things have been said a few times but I hate them so much they can't be reiterated enough:

Sticking tongue out
Bare chest photos
Underwear photos
Not smiling in any of the photos
Swearing in photos
Passive aggressive comments

TaraR2020 · 14/09/2021 21:26

Oh and the other one I loathe!

Bedroom eyes 🤢 I don't want to see any creepy 'come hither' photos of blokes in bed!

OnwardsEverStridingOnwards · 14/09/2021 21:30

@BurleyBob47

I have to ask...what is it with the "University of Life" and is it only men who reference it and, if so, why? And what happens when a graduate crosses path with one of them? Do they annihilate each other like matter and anti-matter colliding?
@BurleyBob47 I have to say I first heard that phrase being used in a film (by a male character) and since then I've only heard men using it!

I think it's something they say to make them not sound like a dropout 😂😂🤣

@TaraR2020 I think they obviously upload those sorts of pictures to make themselves appear more sexy and attractive than they really are 😳

Oh I have another!

When all their photos are action "look how adventurous I am up a mountain/on a bike" but all the shots are taken at a distance and quote frankly they could be anyone

TaraR2020 · 14/09/2021 21:34

*quite

TaraR2020 · 14/09/2021 21:35

@OnwardsEverStridingOnwards well they fail. And if that's their romantic/hit bed look can you imagine their sex face??

TaraR2020 · 14/09/2021 21:35

*hot

Bloody autocorrect

EarthSight · 14/09/2021 22:29

Some of these are making me laugh. Maybe the 'University of Life' thing makes someone sounds a bit insecure of themselves, whilst simultaneously making them sound like someone who would brag about this loudly if they ever came within earshot of someone with a PHD.

EarthSight · 14/09/2021 22:34

@Thisisworsethananticpated

EarthSight

I love walking ! But I just prefer simple funny
A long para of
‘Socialising with friends , walks in the woods and cosy nights in ‘ just screams unimaginative

But , I’m still single so maybe 🤔 I’m too picky
Judging by this thread it’s not just me !!!!

Lol. What are you looking for? I like trekking in Mongolia once a year? Anglo-Saxon poetry? Details about how their throat chakra becomes active on Thursday evenings? XD :P
bobblebeebob · 14/09/2021 22:35

When theres a big group and you don't know which one he is

Pics of his car or dog

Pics of him in full ski gear including goggles

EarthSight · 14/09/2021 22:38

@welliesarefuntowear

No drama. That indicates to me that they are not interested in being your partner. It's a massively off putting thing to write. Partner in crime. Just no. The "what are you looking for" question is so tiresome. Just have a conversation with me. Ask me about myself. How can I know what I'm looking for if you don't tell me about yourself. I never bother with anyone who doesn't write anything about themselves.
@welliesarefuntowear Yeah. That's the trouble with online profiles though. A lot if left to the imagination and we don't often hear it from men's point of view.

'No drama' sounds like the kind of guy who would make out his friend to be crazy or 'hassle' if she actually had some boundaries. I would love to know more about what drama actually means to them. It's like 'Please - no women who's going to get angry at me for being a knob'.

EarthSight · 14/09/2021 22:39

Sorry - I meant 'girlfriend'

mummaelle · 14/09/2021 22:40

Then they ask what my hobbies are. I don't have any 😂 so that's when I stop replying lol

Hopetobe4mrfatty · 14/09/2021 22:43

Pretty much everything but especially

5 photos with a bicycle

The words “sensual “ “tactile “
“Married but ethically non monogamous”
“If you don’t look like your photos you’re buying the drinks until you do”
After work you can always find me “in the gym”

And the idiots wearing their wedding rings in profile photos!

Getbehindme · 14/09/2021 22:48

I'm not sure if mentioned.... but I love it when their subsequent photos from their main photos show them getting progressively older, balder and more rounded - like flip book. In all honesty, I'd prefer to just see you as you are.

@Realyorkshiretea

I only had a brief experience of OLD but fuck me, was it awful. Messages would be like: Him: what animal would you be? Me: owl. You? Him: Whatever animal has sex with an owl

Or something similarly distasteful

Photos were usually topless and reclining in a messy bed, or taken in what was clearly a changing room mirror, labels dangling off the clothes Confused

This me gave me chuckle.
overnightangel · 14/09/2021 23:15

@seensome

Bald men in hats, some women love them but why try to deceive us

See the owl comeback made me laugh. Clearly I'm that weirdo in 100 a line like that works on Grin
