George by Lee Forsyth Griffiths , but you need to know the story behind it to get the full meaning .

Time of Your Life - Green Day
Jar of Hearts - Christina Perry
Broken - Seether ft Amy Lee
Here with Me - Dido
Where’d you Go - Fort Minor

I was quite an emo back in the day

Hope the crying session goes well & makes you feel better x

Phil Collins Marilyn Martin? Separate lives. Does me in.

hullaballoo19 · 11/09/2021 19:45

Came on to say 'lover you should've come over' Jeff Buckley but I see it's been mentioned a couple of times. Also echo the person who said Alanis morisette jagged little pill for when you're feeling angry. Hope you feel better op ❤️

When you've listened to the sad heartbreak songs, op. and have a good snotty sob... watch this video.

Oh god I was trying to think what I did my saddest teenage crying to and there it is - Good Riddance (Time of Your Life) by Green Day. Bloody hell. Thanks for reminding me.

Busby Berkeley Dreams by the Magnetic Fields

Realyorkshiretea · 11/09/2021 20:03

@FoxgloveSummers same! I listen to it very sparingly now as it’s such a bitter sweet song for me.

Eechuffingnuff · 11/09/2021 20:07

Simple together by Alanis Morrisette - soft and simple and lovely

And also Not as We on the same album (flavours of entanglement is a break up album itself - Moratorium is the song I was listening to on headphones when I first met my DP, and I was totally wallowing in the lyrics of not being available for love at that time Grin)

AnnieKenney · 11/09/2021 20:08

KissedintheDark - Thank you. I really needed that today. Thank you.

Iwant2move · 11/09/2021 20:15

Not as we by Alanis Morisette.

Melissa Etheridge - Bring Me Some Water
Pearl Jam - Black
Nazareth - Love Hurts

GlendaSugarbeanIsJudgingYou · 11/09/2021 20:55

James Morrison and Nelly Furtado - Broken Strings. I can't listen to it without balling my eyes out.

Elvis - Always On My Mind.

AMalTiempoBuenaCara · 11/09/2021 21:00

There is a song called 'The Shine' by Harper Simon (son to Paul).
The whole song is sad break-up song but has one particular line that I find heartbreaking.
"Maybe I didn't love you the way that you wanted, but I'll never love anyone more".

KarenofSparta · 11/09/2021 21:09

Don't Speak - No Doubt, actually had just come out the first time my heart was broken, so really resonates still.

Also Back to Black/You know I'm no Good - Amy Winehouse

N4ish · 11/09/2021 21:10

Oh, had forgotten Your Ghost by Kerstin Hersh! I listened to that song on repeat after a difficult breakup, definitely helped me get through it.

Stunnedscared · 11/09/2021 21:12

You can always play love songs that mean something to you that always sets me off
I’m yours Jack Savoretti for some reason makes me bawl
Adele most of them
And in my teenage years a friend of mine played an old LP Janis Ian Between The Lines all the time and I don’t know how any of us made it into our twenties they are so bloody depressing try At Seventeen and In the Winter

UrghSchool · 11/09/2021 21:17

Adele, All I ask 😭

UrghSchool · 11/09/2021 21:21

@Signoramarella

Lewis capaldi ,someone you loved. Listening on repeat after being ditched my man I was in love with
Dust yourself off. His loss!

Get out there and be happy Flowers

Floralnomad · 11/09/2021 21:22

@Stunnedscared my husband describes that Janis Ian album as ‘songs to slit your wrists to’ , very poor taste but probably true - i love it , especially Between the Lines .
