Who sleeps where?

DF & I can’t agree - PIL coming to stay 3 nights.

FIL snores, MIL has an arthritic type condition meaning she sleeps badly & aches and often ends up on the couch at home due to being so restless as well as the snoring not helping.

DF snores a little and I’m sleeping badly due to menopause. I often end up on the couch.

Our room has a super king size bed.Upstairs.
Guest room has a double sofa bed. Downstairs.

Do we give PIL our bed which is really comfy, good mattress but as I may end up on couch due to having to share much smaller sofa bed with DF means MIL can’t get space if needed or give PIL sofa bed with option of couch too.

I will just get earplugs and suck it up for the 3 nights!

I'd give them the comfier bed but space on couch if needed.
Do you only have one sofa?

Bathtimebillie · 25/08/2021 19:17

I'd recommend a nice hotel to PIL.

Doidontimmm · 25/08/2021 19:18

Yes just one sofa.

Awww we want them to stay here, live in a very popular tourist area so a hotel would be astronomical. If I ask them which bed they want they will be too polite to choose!!

I would give them the guest room, but that's because I'm a bit precious about my bedroom.

Blueskyaboveme · 25/08/2021 19:29

I know it's not what you asked re this situation, but why don't you move to the guest room when you are disturbed by snoring? I do this quite a bit as DP snores due to a medical issue.

LawnFever · 25/08/2021 19:30

Give them sofa bed & option of couch, I wouldn’t give up my bed & I’d feel weird my PIL sleeping in my bed anyway

birdsong7 · 25/08/2021 19:34

They're guests. They stay in the guest room.
You and them would feel very weird about sleeping in your bed. They will make do for 3 nights.

The guest room is also the home office @Blueskyaboveme so I’d have to make up the sofa bed in the middle of the night! The couch is comfy so just flop on that!

Ok the consensus is they get the guest room! Thanks.
