Hoping someone can help me. My best friend's partner is refusing to leave unless she pays him money he feels he is owed for work they have had done to her house. The house and mortgage are in her name but he has contributed a lot to work they have had done over the years. He is asking for thousands of pounds which she doesn't have. He is quite a controlling man and we are worried this could escalate.

Can anyone offer any advice?

If he's refusing to leave the property, surely the police will remove him. As far as the work, I believe he'd have to go to court to claim an interest in the property. She definitely shouldn't give him money to leave though

She has him removed by the police.

Do the police just come and remove people though? He hasn't been violent but is saying he wants the money he is owed and then he will leave.
