How does one meet a good man???

Hi, I have been spilt from my husband for well over a year and I am fed up of being "single". I have met a string of totally unsuitable men since, via the internet, and I am feeling a little jaded (and have had a bit of heartache to boot)!

I am trying to think of alternative ways of meeting people, but there don't seem to be many groups or clubs where I live, also the college has stopped it's part time courses, So I am at a loss. Also, I don't have a large circle of friends, so don't go out pubbing very often. I have used Match.com and am not particularly happy with it, so I was thinking of possibly trying another site.

Anyone got any recommendations or tips?

I wish I knew how one meets a nice man. I'm still looking, I suspect all the nice ones have been snatched up already. Men on websites are always desperate, ugly, fat, dysfunctional, tossers, idiots, losers, or have lots of ishoos.

Best way to find a good man is to stop looking. When the time is right, he'll fall straight into your lap when you least expect it

Don't dismiss online out of hand. I met the love of my life online - he was neither desperate, ugly, fat, dysfunctional or a tosser. In fact he was highly intelligent, fun, interesting and rich! Sadly also a commitment phobe, so it'didn't work out in the end (but those buggers can be lurking anywhere).

I also met a very nice guy through the Soulmates column in the Guardian. I think the Gurdian attracts a better class of desperado, IYKWIM.

Current beau I met at a party in the summer when I was least expecting it (and of course hadn't had a shower, washed my hair or put on make up). It really was a total suprise and shocker & I'm still pinching myself now!

1. visit your local hospital canteen,loads of fit doctors having lunch there

1. Go to where all the 'posh' people shop and just browse the isles until one takes your fancy

LOL at "better class of desperado" - true, IMO. I met a couple of nice-ish ones off there, & there seem to be loads of gooduns on there if you're near a city.

Also had a brief go on My Single Friend, but there seemed to be a lot of people on there put off by children.

i frequent a hospital canteen but don't really see any nice dishy doctors and how would you attract them anyway when they can tell from the uniform that you are ummm a few grades below them.

Golf, tennis, ski-ing, sailing.
Parties and professional meetups.

I'm sure a doctor would be more than happy to have a girlfriend "a few grades below" him. LOL. The last thing an Alpha male wants is a competitive female IMO.

oh yes i second that about doctors, one of my sisters works in a hospital and she says all the single doctors are "at it" with nurses,reception staff, ex patients,i keep saying to her, when theres a few of you going out im coming!!!!!!!
havent yet cos not got the confidence.
