He was a friend I have known for a few years. When he heard I was divorced he got in touch to say he’d always liked me. We’ve been together almost a couple of years now (I’m late 40s)

Through friends at 33, second marriage.
I online dated heavily for years before that, I think it's a numbers game - have to put yourself out there. A lot.

At the gym, I'd known him vaguely for years his marriage broke down and he stayed in my spare room whilst he sorted things out. We've been married 10 years this year.

Met someone early 40s through a social activity. Didn't work out at the time. She is now the one who got away (deservedly happily married to someone else), I'm mid/late 40s not super optimistic it will still happen. Following ...

A school reunion- I wish I hadn’t gone

I knew him from our local pub and when he heard that me and exH had split he plucked up the courage to ask for a date. I was 43, we've been together 13 years and married last year.

OLD. Neither of us were looking for a relationship, but she came to my house one day and then she never left.

I'm 42 and honestly dont think I will ever meet anyone. I work with women and really dont want to do OLD. I suppose it doesnt help I'm in love with someone who I can never be with (long story, but no he's not married!!)

@TerraNovaTwo it was just a total bolt from the blue. I knew straightaway that this was it. Utterly bizarre and I'm usually very sensible but I just totally lost my head... luckily he felt the same 😂 no rational explanation whatsoever and if any of my friends had told me a similar story, I would have told them to run for the hills and take a cold shower! 🙈

Met at 43 on OLD, not married but very happy in the relationship. I don't intend to marry again to be honest.

Early 30s. Advert (in the days before t'internet). In those days it was deemed 'desperate' but worked for us 🙂

OLD at the age of 36. Six years later we are married and very happy. Second time round for both of us. I know OLD can be a real pain sometimes but I think if you go at it with an open mind, don’t date every single man you talk to (there are a lot of weirdos out there) but at the same time don’t be too focused on a very specific criteria (a friend of mine refuses to date anyone bald, for example!) then it can work. I know so many people who met their partners online these days.

Mid 30s and at work. He was a couple of years younger. Had fancied him for ages but he was married.
