Staycation honeymoon ideas? (Budget friendly)

We’ve recently got married (!) and for obvious reasons don’t want to book a honeymoon abroad anytime soon.

Any UK based honeymoon ideas for a late 20s/early 30s couple?

Budget in itself is not a huge concern (would spend a lot more for an exotic honeymoon) but don’t love the idea of staying in an immensely expensive hotel for no particular reason, if there’s something unique/interesting about it then happy to splash.

Isn't a staycation where you stay at home? Or do you mean a honeymoon in the UK?

The meaning of staycation seems to have changed over the last year or so.

Previously, it meant staying at home and having day trips. Now it also seems to mean having a holiday in the UK.

The Culloden Hotel in Northern Ireland - 6 miles from Belfast (shopping, restaurants, museums, galleries, etc.), overlooking Belfast Lough. A really beautiful place for a honeymoon.

Royal Crescent hotel in Bath. Not actually budget, but if you are a fan of Austen or even Bridgerton it's like living it! Service is amazing, they really look after you

Port Lympne is wonderful.
You can stay with tigers (expensive) or lots of other much cheaper but still cool options. Being there after hours is a magical experience.

Not sure how far you want to travel, but this has always been on my list! You can get spa treatment in your lodge too. It’s not cheap though.

It's only a staycation if you don't actually go on holiday, here or overseas. What you are looking for is a UK honeymoon!

Or gleneagles. All amazing experiences, all well above what many people pay for a UK holiday but 100% worth it

I would figure out what you want to do e.g.
Spa/luxury hotel
City break
Outdoors based
Cosy with a hottub
Fine dining
Seaside
History/sightseeing

then try and work out a location from there. No point going to a glamping pod in the middle of no-where if what your ideal holiday is clubbing!

If it were me I would do the Lake District in a Boutique hotel and do some walking and water based sports followed by a few days somewhere like York, Chester or Manchester to eat and sightsee.

If I didn’t already live in Scotland I would go to Edinburgh for sightseeing shops and food/pubs and then go to Perthshire for a hot tub/lodge escape.

Watergate Bay hotel in Cornwall or the sister hotel Another Place in the lakes. Gorgeous gorgeous hotels with ace access to swimming and water sports
