Anyone using online dating sites and come across people that “don’t” use whats app?

Anyone? I have been talking to someone and they have said they don’t use whats app. I’m a bit suspicious

Why's that suspicious? I've only just started recently using it and know loads of people who don't use it.

I met my now boyfriend on an OLD dating app and he doesn’t use what’s app some people tend to just talk on face book / Instagram or Snapchat or text , I find it strange myself as I use what’s app but not all people do

Well what's app means you having their phone number ... I think whether they're being dodgy depends on what they're suggesting as an alternative.

I don't have WhatsApp, Facebook or any other social media. I hate them.

I have a phone number that not many people have, I like to keep my life private and refuse to be updated on every detail of other peoples lives haha.

I'm 28 to add some perspective.

You are odd tbh. They are allowed to not use WhatsApp!

I only got WhatsApp because some friends wanted a group chat. If you're just talking to one person it's the same as texting.

Why is that suspicious?

A few of my friends who work in the tech industry don’t use it after looking at its new policy update (its data sharing with Facebook and metadata harvesting).

There are other options out there. iPhones allow group messaging and there are better messaging s apps that care for your data and privacy more, such as Signal.

I know people who don't use WhatsApp.

But also, they might just not be ready to give you their phone number. There's nothing wrong with that either. Take it easy.

Have had a couple of experiences on OLD of people using WhatsApp with fake phone numbers in order to make (unwanted) dirty phone calls.

I prefer to stay on the app at least until meeting, it deters the married men too.

Yes I would be suspicious that they are not single and too lazy/tight to her a burner phone.

I'm always most suspicious of the men who ask if you use kik 😖

I only got WhatsApp just before the pandemic because others insisted I join a group chat about a holiday we had planned (that obviously never happened).

It never ever occurred to me that my not using it before might be viewed as 'suspicious'.

I don't have Facebook either, or Snapchat, and I have never seen anything on Tiktok. Okay, that might mean I am not your kind of person and you wouldn't want to date me, but I don't see how those choices are 'suspicious'?

Some people prefer Messenger instead

I don’t use WhatsApp and I am certainly it dodgy, if I want to message I just send a message/iMessage. You have very specific dating criteria!

When I was OLD I sometimes used to say I didn't have WhatsApp if I wasn't ready to leave the dating site or if I wasn't really feeling it, because I didn't want to give out my number. A lot of people OLD will be using whatsapp, especially men as they like to quickly start the dirty talk off the dating apps.
