Meeting someone

I am 36 and have been single for 5 years now. It seems a lot of guys my age are married and settled down. I really want to meet someone genuine but have no idea where to start. I'm not really interested in any dating apps. I cannot be bothered with trying to figure out if someone is who they say they are. Also I met my ex online and he was a possessive narcissist. That has put me off. Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.

Realistically dating apps are the best and quickest way to meet lots of different men especially in the current climate. I wouldn’t write them off for one fool and you’d have to do that figuring out anyway.

Alternatives are joining an in person course… pottery, wine tastings etc.

Oh and when you get your second vaccine. Look hot AF. Everyone will be your age ;)

Have a look at groups local to you on meetup.

Honestly, dating is hard work. And apps are the best way to meet as many people as possible to find someone. But you need to be bothered and prepared to put in the time and effort. Because if you aren't, why can you expect anyone else to?

Work? Networking in your industry?
Hobbies?
Singles trips and events?

If you want to meet someone in real life then you have to get out there, be sociable and go out with friends in the evening.
Join a hobby or class that has a good mix of men too.
The chances of finding him by randomly bumping into him during the day is very low, unless you have a dog? People say that's a good way to start conversation with new people, men!

Whether it's in rl or online you still have to get to know them, I would keep the option open to connecting online, it is by far the easiest way.

Avoiding online will massively reduce your opportunities.

I meet my DH online. We just celebrated our 24th anniversary. There are good men out there.

Haha I didn't think about the second vaccine tip. Will definitely keep that in mind:)

Thank you for all the advice. I will definitely now consider online dating. Any good dating apps?
