What do you find gives your life meaning?

I've decided to leave DH and feeing like today it's hit me that my life has no meaning, I spend all my time taking care of him. We have no DC, and I'm not interested in another relationship.

So if you're single (or even not to be honest), what gives you your purpose?

I don’t ever question what gives my life meaning. I’m not sure if that’s even a helpful way to think about things. I have plenty of friends, a decent job and lots of interests. I like my life and that’s the main thing.

Leaving the world a better place than I found it.

For me that usually means volunteering for causes I care about, reaching out to people who are struggling (just having a stranger on mumsnet say "you deserve to be happy" can make a massive difference, believe me), educating and raising awareness of things I care about, and creating things that are both useful and beautiful - whether that's a poem, a photograph, or a very useful piece of software.

Agree with DDIJ. I do what I want (around work), eat & drink what I want, clean/don't clean, run, see friends and family, walk the dog, garden. Life is pretty meaningless from a matter of fact point of view.

Maybe a more useful question for you to think about is why you feel your purpose in life has been to "care for" your DH? Does he have a disability? Did you grow up seeing your mum care for your dad?
