Sperm Donor - Which companies to use etc?

I wonder if any of you can help please. My best freind is a real sweetie but hasn't managed to meet someone. She is 37 so feels like time is running out for her and is thinking about looking in to getting a sperm donor as she wants a baby before its too late. Does anyone have experience with this or know who she should contact about sperm donation? Many thanks

Probably a good place to start

she will need to go to a licenced fertility clinic who will give her access to their sperm donor list and will do an IUI cycle for her.

If she doesn't go to a licensed clinic for it then there are no medical checks.

Is she in the south east of England? If so there is an informal group of women who have become single mothers by choice and often using donor sperm - if you want her to contct me I can pass on some details to her.

Would suggest your friend looks at the www.hfea.gov.uk website as these people govern the licenced fertility clinics. There is info on there for people who wish to use donated eggs and sperm.

I should add that the group of women I mentioned are open to "thinkers" ie people who want to talk about it but haven't yet made their mind up.
