You feel you don’t connect with them?

Not be in romantic love of course not. But you can love someone like a relative without connecting with them I think?

SleepingStandingUp · 12/06/2021 09:13

I think if you don't connect with them it would be hard to have a deep love, because that connection is literally what binds you in a good way.

Other binds, family, kids, house, etc are obligations and I think if there's pressure on that relationship that often isn't enough

A sibling or parent yes, but a partner? No

sunnnyevenings · 12/06/2021 09:21

Sorry I didn’t add any context. I’m meaning romantic love with a partner.

Why you not connected?

Beeeeeeeeeeeeeep · 12/06/2021 09:27

@sunnnyevenings

Sorry I didn’t add any context. I’m meaning romantic love with a partner.
Then no. What would the love be built on?
BramStoker · 12/06/2021 09:29

I can't see how a deep romantic love could develop without a connection

SleepingStandingUp · 12/06/2021 09:34

So it's just someone you have nothing really in common with or don't get along with terribly well? Do you already have a relationship that you feel has lost its connect?

sunnnyevenings · 12/06/2021 09:53

We’ve been together for 6 years and have 1 year old DS together. Both had very busy lives before DS and I know it sounds ridiculous but as I was so busy I never realised we didn’t actually connect, we never have. I feel like I don’t love him and feel very guilty for this but how can I if we never connect? I don’t think connection is something that can be forced either so not seeing much hope.

I don't think you can really love them if you can't connect with them no.

I think you can be in the habit of feeling ''summonsed'' in to the relationship, but they don't open up to you - or hear you.

SleepingStandingUp · 12/06/2021 10:52

So how did you get together to start with op? I'd assumed it was a baby early on that had forced to together. Do you have anything in common?

Krook · 12/06/2021 10:56

I don't really know what you mean by 'connect' with?
I take that to be someone you have an easy relationship with, you just 'get' each other, can be yourself without any judgment. Is that what you mean?
If that is missing in a partnership then no I don't think it would be love.
