How to find decent men to date?

Hello mumsnet,
I am newly single and ready to date in the coming weeks and months.
How do I avoid the jerks and meet decent men? I’m mid 30s and live in a big city.
I’ve been single before and would rather avoid online dating if possible but I won’t rule it out as long as I avoid Tinder!
Any tips would be great Flowers

Make a list of your “must-haves” (not just preferences), think about it hard and stick to it. Mine included, for example, “kind to others” and “not addicted to anything”. Drop contact or block at the first sign of a red flag or anything that makes you feel uncomfortable. Don’t accept a date unless the man has clearly stated he is looking for a serious/long-term relationship. Avoid like the plague anyone who says they’re looking for “fun” or “to see where it goes” or similar. Good luck!

Work hard on your boundaries and stick to them.
