Dating as a single parent

How do other single parents manage to date again? I’ve been on my own for 5 years now and I can’t see that changing any time soon but every one around me seems to quickly get back into new relationships and I feel a bit odd being still single so long. Even my mum asked me why I don’t try to meet someone 🤦‍♀️ How do other single parents manage to date if they are the sole parent to their children? Or do I just accept I will be alone forever?

I did it by going on dates when dcs were with their dad eow and very occasionally, asking family to babysit. Dp comes round in the evening about twice a week after the kids are in bed. He has met them over the 5 years we've been together of course but it's very separate. I'm not remotely interested in any kind of step parent or blended family. We met online.

Do you WANT to date, OP? Or are you just feeling you "should" due to societal pressure?

AnneLovesGilbert · 31/05/2021 21:58

Did you follow up by asking your mum when she’ll be babysitting?

Only think about dating if you actually want to.

I didn’t want to date before hence why it’s taken so long but now I do think I am ready to meet someone, mainly for company in the evenings!
