Online dating help

I have finally capitulated and have started online dating. I have not had one response! I understand that it is harder for women in their 40s (am 45 and didn't lie about it!) but have read that women are nearly always inundated with responses.
I have added pics
I have written blurb
I have clicked and liked various profiles and sent messages
Clearly am going wrong. Feeling so disheartened. What can I do? What do you do?

Tinder is fine. You find more people on there than anywhere.

Bumble seems to be used as an ego boost for men that want women to message them so they can then ignore them!

Hinge hasn't got many users but is ok.

Facebook dating is hit and miss but I met my current partner on there so I like it.

E harmony just doesn't have many users either. It's expensive too.

@znaika if you want to PM your profile prose or put it on here, feel free.

A very old and successful one of mine is -

Well hello, you're a rare gem to be actually reading my profile!

I'm looking for someone who will complement my life not complicate it!!

My likes include Krav Maga, marmite, reading, the outdoors, spontaneity and Sci-Fi.

Not in that order and not at the same time!!

Dislike text speak, road runner, aniseed and unexpected items in the bagging area.

If we match, I'll probably not contact you first. So if you ARE interested drop me a line!!

NakedBanana · 16/05/2021 20:22

Also for safety be very careful about what you put for your job and education. 90% of people I match with I can find their job etc after a couple of messages.

So if you put for example Manager at Superdrug

After a couple of messages he asks where you work and you say for example, Luton, he now knows EXACTLY where you work!

So instead say Manager at Retail.

And ALWAYS ALWASY ALWAYS remember that just because there is a picture of them, that doesn't mean that is them.

Take EVERY message with a huge pinch of salt!!

Anybody who looks to good to be true is def too good to be true. Learn how to reverse image search. Understand how Catfish work.

NEVER EVER EVER send money or sex pics to someone you haven't met.

Guavafish · 16/05/2021 20:22

Try match.com ... also be patient, have some nice profile pics, have low expectations, don’t message and text for a long time I.e more that one week. Meet in public places like coffee shops and trust your instincts and your gut feelings.

Good luck

My friend (separated) met his new partner on Hinge last summer. I met her last night actually, really lovely woman and they are well suited.

Might be worth a look.

znaika · 16/05/2021 20:35

Thanks. I am v cynical and not naive at all. Defo not likely to be sharing sex pics or cash, and they would be unable to trace my job. That's why I thought eharmony was a bit better as the price keeps out a lot of people away. Certainly none of the profiles I have seen could be described as too good to be true :/

Hahah good! Now get on tinder tonight as Sunday evening is the busiest time! ;)

You might not get many matched to myth but hopefully your phone will be binging tomorrow!

SortingItOut · 16/05/2021 21:28

Tineye.com is very good for reverse photo search

Swipeleftagain · 16/05/2021 21:53

In my experience eHarmony seems to be full of men who clearly had no luck on a free site and half of them don’t even have a profile picture.

OLD is thoroughly depressing, you’ll need to develop a tough attitude and a good wanker radar OP 🙄
