What to do when you are feeling lonely?

Hi, not sure I'm posting this on the right place so here goes.

I'm 22. I recently broke up with my ex, a close friend of mine moved to a different city, another friend is in a different city for uni, my other friend always declines when I ask to hang out and my mom works 5 days a week and goes to her bf's every weekend. I've finished uni for the year so I don't have any studies to occupy myself. I'm trying to do things that I enjoy to keep myself busy but I'm still feeling pretty lonely and a bit sad tbh. What can I do to stop feeling this way?

Talk to your friends let them know how your feeling. Offer to meet up and let them know you could really do with some company right now.

KirstenBlest · 08/05/2021 14:38

Put some happy music on. Watch tv or a film. Sort out your wardrobe.
Read a book.
Write a letter to an old friend or an elderly relative.
Bake a cake.
Go for a walk.
Join a running club.
Go to a musuem or art gallery.

Might not be your cup of tea but playing Animal Crossing helps me, my partner works away a lot.

Pinkie98 · 08/05/2021 14:45

@zizl animal crossing is my favorite game, currently trying to get a 4 star island haha

@Pinkie98 I've still got my n64 - great for a drizzly staturday like today!

SapatSea · 08/05/2021 16:46

Get a summer job: It'll keep you busy, meet new people, save money so you can have some fun when things open out more again (travel etc). Ask your mum to spend some special time with you.

Get Dragon Quest VIII - the journey of the cursed king for your ps2 and lose 100's of hours.

wanadu2022 · 08/05/2021 16:46

Could you do some volunteer work or a part time job? How about learning a new skill and that way you could also make friends -coding, climbing, running, book club, photography etc. Have a look on Meetup or FB for a group?

DinosaurDiana · 08/05/2021 16:47

Get a job if you’ve not got one.

DinosaurDiana · 08/05/2021 16:47

And TikTok, I can spend hours on there !

Takemetomiami · 08/05/2021 16:48

There are loads of hospitality jobs being advertised at the moment...and they tend to attract people your age. You can earn some money, stay busy and make new friends all at the same time.

Dacquoise · 08/05/2021 18:40

Definitely hospitality jobs. You'll meet all sorts of people and there is a camaraderie being part of the crew ie bar staff, restaurant crew. I had a really good time at your age pulling pints.

Pinkie98 · 08/05/2021 20:01

@Dacquoise I used to work in hospitality but had to leave the industry due to severe contact dermatitis, I'm currently looking for retail work :)
