Lesbian online dating

Not sure if I've posted in the right section, but looking for advice on online dating for a lesbian friend of mine.

She's mid 50s and broke up with her long-term partner about 18 months ago. She's been very lonely through lockdown and I'm trying to encourage her to try on-line dating.

However, she's a bit reluctant as she thinks she may just find women looking for hook ups and that's really not what she wants. She's looking for companionship and intellectual stimulation first and foremost.

As I know nothing about OLD, please could anyone advise me of the best sites to help her look? Will be seeing her over the weekend so hoping to be able to nudge her into action. Thanks.

My only experience is that my daughters sister in law met her girlfriend on Tinder a couple of years ago.
They are younger though and were only early 20's.

Pink sofa used to be more grown up lesbian dating site compared to gaydargirls or okcupid. Just had a google and it seems to still exist It’s been a decade or so since I did any online dating.

I snogged the owner of pink sofa once Grin

Pink Cupid is a dedicated lesbian site, but tbh, all OLD is a minefield, gay or straight. I've used them all in the past Hmm. Obviously there's some genuine decent people out there, but they tend to be few and far between unfortunately. Good fun for some banter and an ego boost I guess, but like anything, God knows who you're really chatting to lol!

Lesbian only sites are OK but there's more traffic on the mainstream sites. As in real life you meet a shed load of fuckwits, but decent folk exist still

Kyniska · 30/04/2021 13:22

I tried the busier sites. As @rumred mentions there is an abundance of f*ck wits. Pink Cupid is quite calm and I met my belle 😍 on there pre lockdown. So, we just passed our first anniversary. 🎈 Say hi if you join, I'm the petite red, mirror selfie in a little black number in Hammersmith. Maya. There are loads of lovely ladies on there. 😀

I use HER but also some of the mainstream apps (Tinder, Hinge and Bumble).

Thanks for all your responses. I'll have a quick Google and see which ones look most likely.

Also, is it better if you do a paid for one, rather than free? Or are they all paid for? As I said, I no absolutely nothing about OLD. Had a look at a couple of sites back in the early days of the internet (late 1990s) and that's about it! I'm sure it's changed an awful lot since then.

Pink Cupid is OK free, you can put your Instagram, kik or snap as your user name, also its easy to get a contact past their free message block filters.🤣 first words are visible in messages. Anyway, you're the prize, go on for free at first, dip your toe. . Those who are keen to meet you will be more than happy to pay and go blue. I found no advantage to being paid. I've been harsh with my filters, but still get 20 messages a day. Say hi to Maya Hammersmith if you join 😊
