Does it run in families?

Recently discover my FIL has some sexual fetishes. MIL didn’t know for the 30 odd years of marriage and didn’t handle it well when she did discover it. Just curious, does this sort of thing run in the family? DH definitely has similar traits.

How the actual fuck have you found out about your fils fetishes? And why are you so involved in your IN LAWS sex life? Enough to know that mil didn’t handle it well?! I would rather die than discuss my in laws sex lives and nonchalantly wonder whether your fil and husband both get off on the same thing.

Being sexually repressed or abused can often cause strange fetishes, and stuff like that does tend to run in families because attitudes get taught.

The term is paraphillia. I'm not sure if there is evidence either way if you can inherit it, but I've read a few things that suggests it could be something to do with brain development, and if that's genetically inherited rather than circumstantial, then yes, possibly.

@Prettybubblesintheair 😂 bizarrely, when MIL found out she called DH. He was so distressed by it all he had to talk to someone about it and that was me. This was over a year ago also which is how I’m nonchalant about it.

@LizzieMacQueen FIL was caught wearing MIL’s clothes when she unexpectedly came home early one evening. She later found an iPad with 1000’s of pictures of him in her clothes so it had been going on a while. DH just likes feet 🤷‍♀️

What similar traits does H and FIL have?
I am guessing it’s more about their temper of character?
It’s unlikely to transcend to sexuality.
