Grandmother dilemma- How to cope?

How do I cope and calmly explain I can’t talk about this anymore? Or more specifically, don’t want to listen to it.

I’ve had to go to her house at a desperate last resort for personal reasons (we’ve all been jabbed if that eases anyone’s minds).

Since we arrived on Thursday, I’ve heard nothing but news and stories about a particular couple. I think we all know who!

She won’t stop talking about it. Every other sentence is about them. She absolutely despises them. I was asked to remove some tabs from her phone for her as her mobile was being really slow. I kid you not, 30+ tabs open with Google searched of this couple.

Do I just suck this up because it’s her house? I feel terrible but I can’t continue to listen like I do. I’m drained of the topic.

How do I handle this sensitively? She’s clearly extremely passionate (if misunderstood and a bit infatuated). It’s been this way for well over a year now but it’s only getting worse.

Sorry but your nan sounds hilarious 😂😂 I guess let her talk about whatever she likes. It could be worse I guess, there are far worse topics of conversation! 🤷‍♀️

Set up an account for her on Tumblr, they love all that blackmailing, faked pregnancy, the baby is not real it's a doll or hired actor crap over there, she can chat nonsense to her hearts content. Just a word of warning if you do though, in about a week she will be non binary, pan sexual and gender fae insisting you call her Zee or Zir..

I would say to her . There's no such thing as bad publicity. How ever see dislikes someone especially a celebrity. All publicity is payed for and to make her think and feel exactly how she is. Just remind her she is saying what they all want her to say negative or nice its all the same when There's money and celebrity status.

Hmm, this evening so far it’s been some sort of video I can hear of a woman talking about Harry and Meghan. It’s an American voice but sounds very monotone. So grating. I want to climb Walls, does anyone actually know what source she’s listening to?

I dare not ask. I can’t engage any further. Since starting this thread it’s been none stop

You have far more patience than I do OP. I would probably just be quite blunt and tell her she is boring me and to just shut up.
