Just received text from a friend telling me her partner of 13 years walked out two weeks ago . She had no idea there was anything wrong.
We used to work together meet up pre covid for coffee lunch etc .
Not mega close but a good friend .
Any ideas on how to respond given I won't see her for sometime due to COVID ?

Offer to meet outside at a park a d go for a walk or have her for a drink In your garden. You should step up and let her know you are there for her as a shoulder to cry on

Unfortunately not in same city and can't travel due to the lockdown .
It's just the wording of my response text. Everything seems a bit trite. I will call her tomorrow obviously but just not sure what to say other than that's rotten and I am thinking about you.

I’d just pick up the phone and call her now.

I'm sorry you are in such pain. I can't imagine how you feel. Is there anything I can help with. Mostly probably listening though.
