How to stop obsessing?

There was a friend I liked and I understand that we are not going to be romantically linked.

Usually I would move on by keeping busy, seeing friends, gym, going on holiday etc but cannot do this. This lockdown is not helping my mental health as I keep ruminating on what if things were different which will not change anything. I know the government is adamant you must stay at home and not travel for a hike.

I know there is another month until we can start to see people again. It is affecting my mental health thinking about this man. I know at some point after his studying he will come back into my life as a friend. I really want these obsessive thoughts to end and not have them when I see him again.

Has anyone got any helpful advice so I can move on? I don't want to go on a dating app because that may trigger obsession again and some of these guys are time wasters. Plus I don't want to be using another person to move on. Thanks.

Have you tried practicing mindfulness? Try an app like Headspace.

I just feel so upset as I want to delete his number from my phone but he would notice I am not on What'sApp then.
