Struggling a Bit

I suppose I just want to vent.

I had a text catch up with an ex. I don't have any feelings for him now and I'd be happy to be friends. He has moved on and I am happy for him.

I'm having a difficult time at the moment dealing with family matters. It made me quite tearful that I've ended up single and things have been stressful. My ex seems to have so much going for him in his life. I am happy for him but I can't even have a hug from anyone at the moment.

I'm really tearful at the moment and couldn't get out of bed yesterday.

I think because we are in such weird times, everything is harder. Go easy on yourself. Maybe things with ex are not as rosy as they appear, we can all put on a brave face. I know I really missed physical contact when I got divorced...a bloke from a local shop I know put my change in my hand and sort of closed my hand round it, and I realised it was the first adult contact I'd had in months. Was really sad. So I do get it. It won't go on forever. The end is in sight. Flowers

@SpongeBobJudgeyPants thanks for your kind words. I haven't had a hug for a year and I've been single for a few years. I do think covid is making things more difficult - life seems so full on with not many distractions.

Hi @rollonspringagain I cant have a hug from anyone too, I know how it feels. I have been dumped not even week ago. Im still in physical pain over it so its very hard. Dont look outside for happiness, treat yourself best. The most important relationship is with ourselves thats what Im starting to realise.

It's lockdown making you feel more lonely, hopefully you can look to meet someone else too when everything is back to normal.
I'm not sure it's a good idea to keep in touch with an ex unless you have to, no one likes to know how happy and moved on they are, I understand the feeling though my exh has moved in with his new partner we have kids so is unavoidable to know, feel it's unfair I'm on my own too.

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 21/02/2021 14:27

I agree with Applecharm. I think it might be better for you to limit/stop contact with him? You don't have to fall out. I ?think it's easy to think yourself back to the happier times, and forget the reasons for the split. I've done this, suspect I'm not on my own. I think humans need physical contact. Maybe book yourself a massage when we're all free again, if you're in a position to? I find that hot baths improve my mood. Maybe something primeval about being cocooned in hot/warm water?

Thanks for the responses. I don't think I'll be having very regular contact with my ex.

I don't mind being friends but not sure his partner would be too pleased. If he makes contact then I will respond. I had moved on with someone else (but it didn't work out) so there are no feelings between us.

@applepiecharm Yes, I will probably have another go at dating when we are back to normal.
