Orgasm

Have recently had surgery to correct the damage done by 3 BIG babies. I have since become very attached to my vibrator. My partner works overseas.
I have realized that I have never had an orgasm until now(am 40, and have been around the block a few times)
WOW it's fan-fuckin-tastic!!!
Problem is, that it sometimes takes 15 minutes or longer to get me to orgasm.
Am I normal?
I am genuine.

absolutely normal - especially as you know what is coming (no pun intended) with regards to movements / sensations with vibrator

Thanks girls. Thought I would get a load of grief about being a weirdo.
There are just some questions that you can't bring up over coffee at playgroup tho!!

Vibrators and masturbation are quicker usually because everything is being done for your pleasure. Also there are no inhibitions when no-one else is there. I often think the reason that I don't always want full-blown sex is that I'm a bit selfish (only area of my life where I can be) - doing it yourself is easier and you can totally concentrate on yourself.

You are normal. I have a neighbour that says she didn't have an orgasm until she was 37. Difference is that she'd tell anyone that would listen...

Thankyou ladies.
Think I am becoming a bit obssessed with it. Realizing what I've been missing out on!

I didn't have an orgasm til I was 36 (now 43) and that was also with a vibrator solo! It did used to take me ages sometimes (more like 30 mins sometimes) but I have found it's reduced with practice and good use of fantasy and not going for one too frequently (I was doing it nearly every day trying to catch up on the missed years!!). I had also had lots of lovers but never really come close before. And it was totally amazing that first time but they have improved over the years since and are now much stronger and longer so lots of excuses to keep practising!!

I met my dh 3 years ago and he can do it orally but it can take a long time but then sometimes it's quick but he is chilled about me bringing out the rabbit to get there too!

This must be why your forties are the best years of your life...

lilymylovely · 02/11/2007 12:55

My dp loves to watch and says he wishes he could do it for me. Not got to that stage yet tho! Need to perfect it myself, as my vibe can be a bit painful(intense) if the wrong place or too much IYSWIM.

Just out of curiosity, (what else), did you until your recent realisation think that you were achieving the big O, o rwas it something that you knew all along??

eggybreadandbeans · 03/11/2007 21:41

I read somewhere once - in an everything-about-sex book dp and I read when we were much younger - that 15 minutes is about the average time a woman takes to achieve orgasm. So that would make you totally and utterly normal! Good for you for discovering this.

ChipButty · 03/11/2007 21:47

Sometimes it takes a few minutes, sometimes up to 15-20. I find a lot of it has to do with my state of mind: If I am feeling stress free it takes hardly any time at all. Vibrators are great but there's nothing to beat an Earth-shattering orgasm with the man you love deep inside of you. Welcome on this wonderful voyage of self-discovery. (God that sounds really hippy! What I mean to say is congratulations and have lots of fun on your journey!)

lilymylovely · 04/11/2007 14:58

IM2. I have always known that I've never had the big O and it has been a constant 'annoyance' to me.
Just glad i found it!!!
EB+B. Thanks for that! I've never been normal before!
You couldn't be a hippy with a name like ChipButty!!
