I have been.

It depends what the differences are - work ethic, attitudes towards law breaking or monogamy etc are a problem.

Generally interests are less important esp if you are both supportive of each others interests even if you don't share them or make an effort to at least share them.

What are the differences?

There must be, other than physical appearance, more that draws you to them than favourite movie genre.

You can only discover what that is by spending time together.

I felt this about my ex, that we didn't have much in common. It turned out though that this wasn't the case. We had loads in common - and not just popular culture - it was just very one sided on his part. And it turned out he is a narc, has a dark spirit and I think ex-addict. I now know that I was foolish to have pressed on with him. I will always wonder 'what if' though, especially as I once saw some good in him.

My advice is is if you feel things are one sided, not necessarily intentionally, is to back out now.

Me and DH are almost opposites; probably one of the few things we have in common are that we both like going out for meals. We’ve been together 8 years and when I think about how different we are I’m not sure why we work but we do.
