Why doesn't my Dad remember my birthday?

I'm sad.

It's my birthday & for the second year, my Dad has forgotten. I mean, not even a text or a call.

We have drifted but there isn't any fall out.

His partner doesn't seem to like me but I've always ignored this. Would always be super courteous to her although admittedly not make a big effort to contact her etc.

My family are wonderful & my in laws always try to over compensate but I'm always so sad/anxious on any special occasion. I just don't get it.

Do any of you have similar experiences

Try not to take it personally, men are allowed to be selfish and rely on their partner to get cards & remember "unimportant" things like birthdays. He's simply not used to sorting things like this out himself.
Why not ring him and ask him to put it on his phone calendar📆 and say how upset you are. Hopefully he will apologize and not forget again.

Happy birthday🎂and hope you get to celebrate properly when this hell is over. much love 🙏xx

It's not that simple unfortunately.

I've reminded him for years. Last year was the first time he completely forgot. And didn't think to ask at any point throughout the year. I'm not accepting the it's a 'male' thing. My husband wouldn't ever forget his mums birthday for example.

He was a lovely dad as a child but for the last 12 years...he's been virtually non existent. My children don't know him though he does send them birthday cards. I don't get it
