Suspicious I’m Being Spied On

Suspicious09 · 10/01/2021 19:07

Hi,

I’ve name changed for this post!
I have a feeling I am being spied on by my husband via mobile phone.
Is there a way to tell whether I have a tracker/spy device, that’s been installed on my phone?

Are you Apple or Android?

Something on a mobile phone is not easy to do compared to a laptop or a pc.

ErickBroch · 10/01/2021 19:14

If you have an iphone I would contact apple - it is free and they are very easy to contact via phone and can help guide you.

Onesipmore · 10/01/2021 19:15

What makes you think that OP ?

Suspicious09 · 10/01/2021 19:19

I’m Apple, I will see if I can contact them, thanks!

I can’t really say too much as it’s outing but something happened recently, which made me think this.

Turn your location off for starters.

Maca07166 · 10/01/2021 19:30

It’s harder to install such a thing on an Apple Device is he tech savvy?

Maca07166 · 10/01/2021 19:32

An iPhone requires it to be jail broken to install such apps.

Check every folder do you have an app called Cydia? It’s a common app used on a jail broken iPhone.

HollowTalk · 10/01/2021 19:37

Have you got Find a Friend installed? If so, delete it.

Suspicious09 · 10/01/2021 19:41

As far as I know there’s no apps, other than the ones I’ve installed. I’m thinking more the ones you pay for, where you don’t need access to the other persons phone.

Almost impossible to do on an iPhone, due to 2 factor authentication — which most iPhones have these days- none of the previous ones using iPhone and Apple IDs work because of this— Other options— check if phone has been proxied (this means that all info in and out will be diverted to a middle man computer or laptop and it wouldn’t be obvious to you at all ) - you find this by tapping onto the ‘i ‘ symbol against the wifi network you are using on your phone- at the bottom it will say ‘configure proxy’ - it should be off, if it isn’t then it’s likely someone has tinkered with your phone and has your info showing up on their laptop/ computer . Their are many programmes that can do this but on an iPhone they have to have got hold of your open phone or iPad for a few minutes to configure it

ChelseaCat · 10/01/2021 20:15

Find a friend is now “find my”

Hope everything is ok OP Flowers

Is there anyway there could be a hidden camera or listening device? My ex h did this and took me a year to find the camera. I still get suspicious he has something on my phone or listening to me but I've done everything I could to try and find out

Maca07166 · 10/01/2021 20:36

He’d still need the phone to be jail broken in order to install said apps I believe as Apple are pretty strict with their App Store these days as just typing in “spy” onto the App Store brings up about 3 apps in total.

The “find my” app is a location tracker that you can easily check to see who your sharing your location with.

Honestly it’s virtually impossible on iPhone without it being jail broken to install these kind of apps.

Check app usage if ur battery suddenly starts draining. Often can be call be called something else and run on background. Or u can factory reset buts watch online and best speak to Apple

Thelnebriati · 10/01/2021 21:37

Talk to Apple about your phone, but if he's monitoring you its more likely he's doing it from cameras/microphones in the home. They are very cheap and easy to buy.

There are 3 main ways to search for them, the first is to go all round the room with a recording device that is actively recording, if you put it near a spy device it should cause feedback.
The second is to make the room pitch black and shine a light around, look at anything that reflects back as it might be a camera lens.
The third is to look for activity on your wifi, especially while you know no one at home is online.

Has he bought any new gadgets recently? Look at spy devices online, the lens is as small as a screw head and can be bought in practically any gadget you can think of such as an electric clock or bluetooth speaker.

Wonder if it could be someone having your pw's and therefore signing into your icloud/social media? Then they could read your messages etc. That is more likely than something actually on your iphone that's been installed without you knowing

MadeForThis · 11/01/2021 09:28

Check in settings, battery. That's will show you what apps are using your battery.

He could also have used your Apple ID to sign into another device so he will see messages, photos, emails etc

BeingAMumIsHardWorm · 11/01/2021 09:33

My friend's husband can see all her WhatsApp messages etc on their iPad. Something to do with the Apple ID or something.
Would it be something like that ?

janaus50s · 11/01/2021 10:57

He might have Find My Phone on both phones. Turn Location off in settings
