Why can men not communicate

I was seeing a guy who I really liked but due to work and life we stopped
Recently came across him online and started up talking
He asked to meet, I agreed
He said for today, great I cleaned up myself and the house.
By 1pm decided to take a drive on a sunny day. Text him going for a drive and left.
He text an hour later where was I
He proceeds to text and I said I'll be home in 40mins see u then?
He went home.
I receive lots of texts about how he mucked up after I said if you set a time I'd of been home for sure.

I didn't set a time because he had a child to drop off and I didn't want to interfere or cause pressure.
Then I get text..
What do you want.

He wants more than a fwb.
I would rather try arrange to met and see how we go and feel in person.
He's been emotional so I said just be straight up and he could of called me.
To much or making it complicated or am I unreasonable.

We live 1.5hrs away from each other.

I'm not sure I could be bothered with someone who doesn't make proper plans. I think you'll have a lot of your time wasted trying to pin him down. It's not necessarily wrong, just not something that would work for everyone.

Djouce · 27/12/2020 09:07

You were supposed to sit at home expectantly until he deigned to show up, OP.

tobedtoMNandfart · 27/12/2020 09:08

Eh? He said he was coming round. You got ready then went out! Your drive took you at least 40 mins from home. And you think he doesn't communicate well...

clpsmum · 27/12/2020 09:14

Why didn't you just set a time that he'd be arriving and make sure you were in? Doesn't seem like either of you communicate well tbh

Chocolate123 · 27/12/2020 09:16

You both should have agreed a time

kermits · 01/01/2021 03:27

To finish off and vent..
He told me his dog was sick hence he didn't arrive
Then
added that previous day he had not been invited to a bbq with his friends.
I begin to receive texts "so why do you like me", I'm friendless I'm such a loser and other stuff which I begun to think was odd for someone 40+
I was ghosted for a few days to receive "how are you"
Then "what you doing New Years"?
He proceeded to tell me he had no plans and should he visit followed by it was unlikely I would travel to him. (No I wouldn't because I'm living off half my income to take this holiday but he's to ignorant to ask)
He knows I'm going away for several days and tried to invite himself but the behaviours blowing hot and cold boarderline something I've never experienced
He never showed up or has contacted.
I was doubtful I could tolerate the self pity bs when I have waited months to be on Xmas holidays to relax.
I was quite happy to see New Years in without him I was not fazed so left any contact mostly to not feed into the drama
It's all very strange the hot cold wanting to know where & what I am doing
He works in a isolated job maybe that's not helping.
I remember him constantly texting me over 2 hrs while I was at work and asked to wait till lunch and I'll chat then to which he become quite nasty and what was fucken wrong with me.
Is he mentally unwell perhaps

SnuggyBuggy · 01/01/2021 07:45

Is this the adult version of the dog ate my homework?

tobedtoMNandfart · 01/01/2021 19:10

Speaking of communication your update is pretty difficult to follow??

category12 · 01/01/2021 19:17

Well, given he becomes quite nasty if you don't reply to his messages in a timeframe he approves of, you're best off breaking it off and blocking him.

category12 · 01/01/2021 19:17

It's not "men", it's this bloke. Dump the fucker already.

Blulights · 01/01/2021 20:06

Recently came across him online and started up talking

So you stalked til you found him and then contacted him?

Burnthurst187 · 01/01/2021 20:13

Why would you want to start seeing somebody who's 1.5 hrs drive away? Is it a classic case of nobody local so the search radius just gets wider and wider and more desperate?
